What's On Tonight (Friday): 'Dead To Me' comes back to life with a 2nd season!

Here ye find What's On for Friday May 8th 2020

Streaming:

Dead To Me (Netflix): Top Pick of the night goes to this Emmy nominated show which found some degree of popularity this time last year- (You know a show has achieved some measure of popularity if I've heard people talking about it--which I actually did this cause my sister apparently watched it) Anyways the second season of this Christina Applegate/Linda Cardellini oddball buddy/unlikely friendship show airs--presumably picking up where its first season ended. (I didn't see it but i heard it had a jaw dropper of an ending..or something like that) (also James Marsden is in it too)

The Eddy (Netflix): This new Damien Chazelle produced show is about "A jazz club owner dealing with the everyday struggles of running a live music venue in Paris" It stars Andre Holland and Amanda Sternberg so its got some promise at the very least!

The Hollow (Netflix): Season Two of this syfy animated show is about "Three teens working together to find a way home after waking up in a mysterious realm with magic portals, strange puzzles, and various beasts"

Valeria (Netflix): Spanish language show is about a writer who's hit a dead end with her current novel and is having trouble connecting with her husband, but takes refuge in the colorful lives of her three best friends whom all have various plotlines of their own. (Wouldn't it be wild if the twist of this show was that the three friends of hers weren't real, but were actually characters she created???)

18 Regali (Netflix): Italian drama about a woman who apparently dies at age 40 but leaves a gift for each year of her daughter's life with 1 gift per 18 years (Regali is Italian for gift--so the title is actually 18 Gifts)

Solar Opposites (Hulu): HULU has the premiere of this new Justin Roiland created show (of Rick and Morty fame)  about a family of aliens from another world seeking refuge in middle America, and can't seem to agree on whether America is awesome or awful. (or ideally some combination of both) Its animated so it features the voices of Roiland, Thomas Middleditch, Sean Giambrone (from The Goldbergs!), Mary Mack, and Carlos Alazraqui (from Reno 911)

The Goldfinch (Amazon): Amazon has the premiere of last year's failed attempt at prestige film The Goldfinch (which i'll totally watch because i read the book--tho shouldn't it be on HBO???)

Broadcast:

MacGyver (CBS): Mac and Riley's mission is interrupted when Russ, Desi, and the Phoenix team move to prevent Codex from detonating a weapon of mass destruction; the team discovers Russ's real reason for purchasing the Phoenix Group Foundation. (You mean Henry Ian Cusick had ulterior motives this entire time??? You Don't Say....)

The Blacklist (NBC): as the task force investigates a kidnapping executed by seemingly impossible abductors, Dembe lands in a perilous situation; a recent health scare causes Red to think about a possible successor to his empire of criminal activity. (Red has an empire now???)

Shark Tank (ABC): A modern version of a fading men's fashion brand; a far out textiles brand; a clothing design which helps the wearer comfortably bring dads and their babies closer together; a solution to one of childhood's messiest milestones. (Nods) (Shark Tank Fever--Catch It!)

Friday Night Smackdown (FOX): HockeyMike--this is your weekly reminder that it is Friday!

Masters of Illusions (The CW): Starting out a new summer season--perhaps a tad earlier than originally expected is this summer filling reality series about magicians and their various illusions!

RuPaul's Drag Race (VH1): "One Queen Show"---The Queens must create and perform their own solo show where Whoopi Goldberg coaches them all on how to stage a one person show. (Whoopi!!!!)

Spring Bride (Hallmark): Your Hallmark Channel Movie of the evening is this one where "A tabloid reporter spends a week with a political family and falls for one of their sons" Starring Katrina Law and Jordan Borth.

9:00

Magnum PI (CBS): Tonight we got TWO back to back episodes of Magnum tonight---First up we have "Magnums and Higgins are each hired by 2 different people who are in the middle of a contentious divorce to dig up dirt on the other; Rick and TC look into the death of an unidentified man and must share the news with his estranged daughter" (Awww)

Dateline (NBC)

20/20 (ABC)

Dynasty (The CW): My original Top Pick Choice for the night went to this reboot which is ending its 3rd season tonight 2 episodes earlier than intended so this will probably not wrap up the show's myriad storylines they had been working on all season but still its an ending of some sort right? "Fallon's surprise bachelorette party ends the way one would expect it to go---terribly!" (Ladies and Gentlemen--I bring you Dynasty!)

Great Performances (PBS): The LA Philharmonic Orchestra's 100th Birthday is celebrated with a 90 minute special presentation that takes a look back at its 100 years as well as several scheduled performances and interviews with conductors and players past. (Very PBS!)

Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives (Food): French dip from Seattle, San Diego arachini, Boston kebabs, and shrimp flown in from the North Pole--by which they mean Alaska. (FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD)

Gold Rush (Discovery):

Gomer Pyle (MeTV): "I'm Always Chasing Gomers" (When Sgt Carter starts dreaming of Gomer at night, his stress level goes thru the roof to the point that he actively tries to avoid him during the day)

9:30

Green Acres (MeTV): A mysterious boy claiming to be from outer space lands at Oliver's doorstep.

10:00

Magnum PI (CBS): In the second of two back to back episodes tonight--Magnum and Higgins help Rick when his father figure gets double crossed; Magnum makes one last bold move to help Higgins try and stay in the country. (So i'm guessing their green card marriage didn't work out then???) (Also if i remember right, Rick's father figure was played by Corbin Bernsen last time around)

Bering Sea Gold (Discovery):

11:00

Betty (HBO): New HBO series set in the world of skateboarding focuses on a group of young females whom I'm assuming are all friends yes???

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND ONE AND ALL!!!!!
