Jeopardy! recap for Thur., Mar. 5

Here are today's contestants:

- Zahkia, a marketing analyst from Michigan, has a life-long wisdom document;
- Wes, a stay-at-home dad from California, met his wife and got educated in Nebraska; and
- Paul, an attorney from Georgia, belongs to a Greek organization that goes way, way back. Paul entered the game as a one-day champ with winnings of $21,000.

Paul had a solid lead when he found DD3 and was correct, but only made a modest wager, helping keep everyone alive into FJ with Paul at $20,200, Wes with $11,600 and Zahkia at $10,600.

DD1, $800 - CONGRESS - In 1792 Congress passed the Coinage Act & established the first U.S. Mint in this city (Paul won $1,200 from his score of $1,600.)

DD2, $1,200 - GET SCHOOLED - Alumni of this exclusive boarding school near Windsor include princes William & Harry & actor Tom Hiddleston (Zahkia lost $1,200 from her total of $5,400 vs. $7,800 for Paul.)

DD3 - $1,600 - MONUMENTS & MEMORIALS - Paris' Chapelle Expiatoire, meaning the making-amends-for-executing-you chapel, is on the original 1793 burial site of this couple  (Paul won $2,000 from his score of $15,400 vs. $7,400 for Zahkia.)

FJ - BRITISH NOVELS - A laboratory known as the House of Pain is on Noble's Isle, the title setting of this novel

Surprisingly, no one was correct on FJ, with Paul dropping $3,001 to win with $17,199 for a two-day total of $38,199. Note that Zahkia, perhaps playing for second money, gave up any chance for victory by betting $0.

Clue selection strategy: Late in DJ, Paul wisely jumped away from a category with only a top-row clue remaining to shop for and find DD3, effectively keeping it away from his opponents and denying them a chance to make a big move.

Triple Stumpers of the day: No one knew the beer holder that is German for stone is "stein", and a video clue's reference to a 1954 novel about a "very evil little girl" didn't lead the players to the children's book "The Bad Seed".

Correct Qs:
DD1 - What is Philadelphia?
DD2 - What is Eton? (Sadly, Zahkia's response of "Fancy English School" was not specific enough to satisfy the judges.)
DD3 - Who were Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette?
FJ - What is "The Island of Dr. Moreau?"
