What's On Tonight (Monday): Better Call Saul Better Calls Another Season

You see the fine Better Call headline you fine Better Call folk would've missed out on had Amadeus went with Better Call Saul--now officially back for a 5th season--as his official Top Pick last night when the new Better Call season Better Call premiered??? For whatever reason AMC opted to run an episode last night and then another one tonight in its regular weekly timeslot. Same Better Call Station...Same Better Call Name....But You Won't Need To Better Call WOT because if you stay on the line you shall soon see What's On Tonight for February 24th 2020...

8:00

The Neighborhood (CBS): CBS is Better Calling Reruns tonight unfortunately. So here we have a rerun of the season opener which saw Dave wanting to mark his first year anniversary of moving into the Neighborhood (hey that's the title!!!!) by stepping up with a bigger role in the community (Hey its not called The Community!!!) but Cedric isn't so sure that Dave should be doing that. ("You see we're friends yes, but I don't know if the rest of the neighborhood is gonna be as won over by your um charm!") (I made that up, I don't actually remember exactly what Cedric says, but its something along those lines I wanna say)

The Voice (NBC): Season Premiere of the Spring Cycle of this venerable show--tonight we have Season 18 kicking off with the first round of Blind Auditions. (They do 2 seasons a year, so this being the 18th season would suggest that this show has been on now for 9 years??? Is that right??? I do seem to remember it being on in winter of 2011 so i guess that checks out)

9-1-1 Lone Star (FOX): Owen and the team race to deal with a runaway bull at a used car lot and an apparently electrocution; Owen wants to prove himself physically fit for the job while also umdergoing chemotherapy (well hopefully he's not trying to like do pushups or dead drops while hooked to a chemo machine in the hospital); Michelle gets a lead on her missing sister. (Its only been i think 5 or 6 episodes but Liv Tyler having a missing sister and doing anything she can to find out what happened to her seems to be her defining characteristic thus far)

The Bachelor (ABC): Madison seizes an opportunity to talk to peter before the fantasy suites; the final 3 woman must live together in a single suite. (How Will They Ever Cope?!?!?!?!?)(Maybe this is what the Primary Candidates should have to do--just live with one another in a locked hotel room--and share amenities like soap and shampoo.) ("I will only use 1% of the soap!") (Yeah i know that was lame!)

All American (The CW): Spencer worries that Coop isn't taking everything seriously (Why does every week find Spencer worried about Coop here--doesn't Spencer have his own plotlines to worry about???); He also asks Layla for her help (Oh ok); Olivia questions whether she did the right thing by going to Billy about Asher; Coop feels smothered. (Well I think I understand why!) (I have not seen this show since its first episode, but i think i might love how my sum total knowledge of it comes from typing up these plotlines  for it every week--Damn Spence, why you gotta be all up in Coop's business???)

Antiques Roadshow (PBS): The Crocker Art Museum Part 2 finds the crew looking at a 1981 Raiders of the Lost Ark prototype (hmmm!); a 1788 Elizabeth Shoemaker sampler; and a 1976-77 Roy De Forest mixed media artwork.  (Better Call Antiques Roadshow!)

Bottled With Love (Hallmark): Your Hallmark Channel Movie of the Evening is "A fisherman finds a bottle which contains a love letter and reaches out to the woman who wrote it." (Wait how does he know who wrote it???) Starring Bethany Joy Lenz, Andrew Walker, and Tony Danza. (No I'm only kidding,...I wish Tony Danza was in this!)

8:30

Bob Hearts Abishola (CBS): Rerun of the episode where Dottie feels depressed while still recuperating from her stroke and when the titular duo can't seem to lift her up, they call on Auntie Olu, and Uncle Tunde (who are closer in age to her) to try and help out. (But not before they call on two old friends of Dottie's who seem to be of no use--and if i remember right they were played by Marilu Henner and Wendie Malick!)

9:00

All Rise (CBS): Also in reruns is this show which tonight has an episode first broadcast back in November that has Judge Lola having to preside over a celebrity murder trial and the attending circus (media, entourage, etc) that comes with it. (Did you know the guy from ER who had his arm ripped off by a helicopter and was then subsequently killed by a helicopter is on this show as a strict judge??? Well now you do!)

Prodigal Son (FOX); Also in reruns tonight at least for the next 3 weeks (The end of last week's episode said the next new one wouldn't be til March 16th) is this show which tonight is rerunning the very first episode---so you fine folk can see for yourselves how messed up son of a serial killer ended up working for the NYPD and somehow also the FBI. (He's like an FBI liaison yes? Lou Diamond Phillips is in the cast!!! As is Keigo Agena and Bellamy Young and Halston Sage whoever that is!!!) (and yes Michael Sheen as the refined serial killer dad-but surely no one here would ever watch a show just for him tho)

Black Lightning (The CW): But Here To Save The Day From Mid-Winter Rerun Blues is Black Lighting which features a new episode! Huzzah! "The Book of War Chapter 1 finds that as the battle continues, old alliances are revisited and new alliances are revisited and new alliances forged" (Sooo that's happening!)

Antiques Roadshow (PBS): But now we go back to reruns as PBS has a rerun episode of this from March of 2018 following the new episode that aired before it---this one takes place in St. Louis and features a Michael Jackson signed fedora!!!! (Better Call Fedora!!!)

Better Call Saul (AMC): Top Pick goes to this show with "Jimmy's ex promotional stunt has unintended consequences; Nacho takes extreme measures to earn Lalo's trust; Saul is a success at the courthouse but still has yet to win Kim over; Simmering with rage and self loathing, Mike loses his temper." (The person who writes the plot summaries is aware that everyone who watches it is knows full well that Jimmy and Saul are the same person yes???)  (Better Call Matt to write your plot summaries Better Call Saul!) ("Hi are you sick and tired of having to strain to figure out what's going on on your favorite show??? Then call me Matt, I will expertly explain to you on what's happening on your favorite show---No more wasting your time trying to comprehend impossible to grasp plot summaries---I'll simply tell you in plain and easy to understand words what is happening!!!! As a bonus I guarantee you that each plot synopsis won't be longer than 3 sentences! How can you resist such an offer?? Better Call Matt Today!!! Operators Are Standing By!!!")

New Pope (HBO): In Venice, a papal donor and his wife struggle to care for their sick son and witness a miracle; Pius XII's devotion grows resigned; An attack on Vatican soil shakes Brannox to his core; Sofia comes to Voiello for advice on how to hack the pope. (I'm sorry that was suppose to read "Sofia comes to Voiello for advice on how to handle the pope"---but come on the idea of someone hacking the pope is much more interesting isn't it???)  ("Your security is terrible!")

Brain Games (Nat Geo): Rebel Wilson joins host Keegan Michael Key to explore the power of the unconscious when falling in love. (Who made Rebel Wilson the go to with love matters? Its bad enough I see her continually in those Match.com ads on tv damnit--tho in their defense at least their not Bloomberg ads???)

American Pickers (History): Mike and Frank hit a down and dirty old school pick in Illinois while Danielle and Robbie enjoy a high speed joy ride in a one of a kind rat rod. (???)

Gomer Pyle (MeTV):  Hacker plays a joke on Gomer by setting him on a date with a "school teacher"  (I actually remember listing this synopsis over the summer! The schoolteacher is actually a burlesque dancer) (shrugs) Different times I guess.

9:30

Green Acres (MeTV): Oliver decides to take matters with a power company into his own hands causing chaos in the process. ("Chaos Reigns")

10:00

Bull (CBS): Capping off our night of CBS reruns this show has one from October that finds Chunk taking center stage when he decides he would like to re-try a case for man who convincingly claims that he was wrongfully accused; but there's a conflict of interest here when it turns out that Benny who used to work in the DA's office was a key player in the wrongful conviction. (So this is what its like when an episode of Bull doesn't feature Bull...I could get used to it! The show does have other characters--tho you wouldn't know it from the ads!)

Little Big Shots (NBC): Sadly missing in action for this week is the normally seen here "Manifest" which is getting booted for a week so that Melissa McCarthy can host the 4th season premiere (4th? really?!?!?)  of this show featuring kids doing amazing things or something--I don't know, I've never actually seen it--tho I remember the ads featured Steve Harvey being stunned a lot. (Harvey is no longer on the show for some reason)

The Good Doctor (ABC): Dr. Murphy becomes obsessed with performing an autopsy on a Jane Doe which challenges his relationship with various others at the hospital; a male college student has a mysterious split personality disorder. (Good Doctor! Good Doctor! Good Doctor!)

Independent Lens (PBS): "Always In Season" A woman fights for justice for her son, Lennon Lacy--a teenager found hanging from a swing set in Bladerboro North Carolina in 2014 (This runs for a full hour and a half--so if you're watching it, set your DVR accordingly)

McMillion$ (HBO): Gennaro "Jerry" Colombo lands in the ICU, leading Jerome "Jerry" Jacobian to scout for new recruiters (Why is everyone on the show nicknamed Jerry???); Dwight Baker and others join the operation, the FBI gathers intel on Uncle Jerry's middlemen and ends up tailing Dwight in an airport. (Jerry? Hello!!!)

Spy Games (Bravo): The remaining competitors are given false identities and sent on a blind date and when the Assessors turn up the heat on a challenge, the contestants have to reorder their alliances. (nods)

Beyond the Unknown (Travel): Lizzie Borden, Following a tantalizing new lead in the hunt for Bigfoot; and the origins of the Bermuda Triangle. ("We have to take a look at the oranges of the Bermuda Triangle")

Cops (Parmount): Not Up For Debate" A cop walks up to what he thinks is a zombie. ("I walked with a zombie. I walked with a zombie. I walked with a zombie...last night!")

11:00

Briarpatch (USA): Inexplicably moving from Thursday nights where it aired the last 2 weeks, to a new timeslot following Monday Night RAW (like anyone watching Monday Night RAW is gonna stick around to watch an intricate mystery show with wonderfully colorful dialog???)  Anyways this episode features "Jake throwing a party, Allegra discovering a secret; a newcomer offering warnings and cocktails" (The episode is called "Terrible, Shocking Things") (I dig this show btw--its kind of a shame that USA seems to be completely throwing it away here after relentlessly promoting it over the past couple of months, but what can you do? Forget it Jake, its TV-Town)

Midnight

Carter (WGN): Speaking of perfectly fine tv shows whose networks are throwing them away for some inexplicable reason---this week Harley, Sam, and Dave solve a murder at a nudist colony in an episode titled "Harley Insisted On Wearing Pants" (This would get a thumbs up gif from me if i knew how to put one in here! So you'll just have to imagine that I'm giving a thumbs up here)

HAVE A GREAT START OF THE WORKWEEK ONE AND ALL---LETS DO IT AGAIN TOMORROW SHALL WE????
