What's On Tonight (Friday): MacGyver Builds a 4th Season

Howdy---This is WOT for February 7th 2020.

Streaming:

Locke and Key (NETFLIX): Based on the graphic novel this new series revolves around "three siblings who after the gruesome murder of their father, move to their ancestral home in Massachusetts only to find that the house has magical keys, that give them a vast array of powers and abilities, but little do they know that a demon also wants them keys and will stop at nothing to obtain them"

My Holo Love (Netflix): A new Korean drama about "a lonely woman with face blindness finds the perfect companion upon getting to know a humanlike hologram modeled after its human creator" (ok)

Horse Girl (Netlfix): A new movie (not a series) that hails straight from Sundance about "A sweet misfit with a fondness for horses, crafts, and supernatural crime shows (oh that old trio) find her increasingly lucid dreams intruding on her real life" A heck of a cast here including Allison Brie (who also co-wrote the script), Debbie Ryan, Paul Reiser, Molly Shannon, John Ortiz, Toby Huss, Robin Tunney, Matthew Grey Gubler, David Paymer, Aaron Stanford (yeah that's a cast) Directed by Jeff Baena who also directed Brie in the movie "The Little Hours" and Aubrey Plaza (whom he's apparently married to) in "Life After Beth"

Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet (APPLE TV):  The other big streaming premiere this weekend is the arrival of the much, much promoted Apple TV series about the offices and individuals who work in said offices of a big best selling massive multi playing video game and their attempts at creating another one of these games--and the various petty squabbles and conflicts they get into while doing so. (shrugs) It stars (and is exec produced by) Mac from Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia (Rob McElhenny) Danny Pudi (ABED) and David Hornsby (aka Rickety Crickets) and Australian comedic actress Charlotte Nicado are also in the cast (and apparently F Murray Abraham is also involved in this thing??? How did that happen?!?!?!?)

And lastly AMAZON has the streaming premiere of Shia LeBouf's movie "HONEY BOY" which got rave reviews when it opened a couple months back--and no less a critic than Adam Sandler himself said that he couldn't believe that Shia wasn't in the running for an Oscar nomination for his work in it. (I'm just saying when have you ever heard Adam Sandler talk about anyone's acting in a movie before??? He said this in part to try and deflect talk about his own chances of getting an Oscar nod while promoting Uncut Gems on one of the talk shows, he was like "yeah yeah yeah Oscar Scmoscar, have you seen that movie Honey Boy??? Shia Lebouf was incredible in that...")

Amazon also has a new season of Football Reality Show "All or Nothing-Philadelphia Eagles" which i'm guessing is a show that traces the latest season that the Eagles had.

Broadcast:

8:00

MacGyver (CBS): Returning to the schedule for a 4th season (and apparently a full 22 episode order as well!) is this reboot and tonight we got "Ex MI6 agent Russ Taylor recruits former Phoenix Foundation members Mac, Riley, Bozer, Matty, and Desi to hunt down a bioweapon that's planned to be used by a mysterious organization for a devastating attack on a major city" (Wait why are they no longer at Phoenix??? Last thing i remember was Peter Weller trying to blow up an elevator and being all supervillain-y--what happened in the interim here???) (Oh right CBS! CBS! CBS!)

Lincoln Rhyme and the Hunt for the Bone Collector (NBC): A bizarre murder at a university research site thrusts Amelia and Kate into the world of post mortem forensics; Lincoln explores new possibilities with the help of Sellitto's friend. (What kind of new possibilities? Romantic ones? I don't think that's particularly wise with The Bone Collector still running around out there snatching peoples' bones you know?)

Democratic Primary Debate (ABC): This time its taking place at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire ahead of the primary that's scheduled to take place there on Tuesday of course. (This is what Debate No, 3000 now???) (Is Bloomberg finally gonna be in one of these already???)

Friday Night Smackdown (FOX): Once again--smackdowns are given out, passed around, and haned down. (Same As It Ever Was...And look where my hand was...time isn't holding up...time isn't after us...same as it ever was...letting the days go by...friday night smackdown on tv...into the blue again)

Charmed (The CW): A mysterious SOS call from Whitelighter Helen draws Harry, Mel, Macy, and Maggie into a perilous conflict with Darklighter Helen (what???); An attempt to regain the power of 3 has Macy resorting to drastic measures. (NOO MACY DON'T RESORT TO DRASTIC MEASURES!!!!!)

Bunk'd (Disney): With the end of summer nearly in sight, Destiny reminds Erin and Mateo that they all need to hang out as much as possible before going their separate ways. (Cue the Journey song of the same name!)

Cooking With Love (Hallmark): Your Hallmark Movie of the Night is this one where "Kelly is a tv producer and Stephen is a bad boy celebrity chef (Oh God) who do not get along very well but are paired together on a new daytime cooking show and you can guess what happens next." (Starring Ali Liebert and Brett Dalton--Ohh Brett Dalton--Beef McRunalot from Agents of Shield!)

8:30

Gabby Dunn and the Unsittibles (Disney): Gabby has high hopes for a middle school dance she's going to (I hope she's actually in middle school cause that would be awkward if not) but the guy she'd like to go with Wesley insists on bringing his weird friend Rhonda to tag along. (Awww I feel ya Gabs)

9:00

Hawaii 5-0 (CBS): When Grover's niece goes missing from the police academy, it is discovered that her boyfriend is an undercover member of the Yakuza. (I feel like at least half the population on this show are actually covert Yakuza organization members as this is a plot device that has turned up multiple times over the show's decade long run at this point) (shakes head) (Oh Also CBS! CBS! CBS!)

Dateline (NBC): The Mystery of Empire Lake. (What is said mystery??? I don't know--Do you?)

Dynasty (The CW): Blake finds himself all alone in the mansion, Fallon's search for her new abode brings out her competitive side (Literally everything brings out Fallon's competitive side!); Sam hosts a Valentine's Day event at the La Mirage; and Dominique entwines herself in a few more questionable situations. (Again much like Fallon, this is something that Dominique just does on a regular basis) (Dynasty Folks, Dynasty)

Country Music (PBS): Part 6 of this Ken Burns doc finds "Will the Circle Be Unbroken--1968-72" as the war in Vietname wear on, Kris Kristofferson sets a new lyrical standard; Bob Dylan and The Byrds come to Nashville to record. (Does Mr. Tambourine Man play a song for them???)

Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives (Food): Sweet and Savory Dishes get served up in Burlington VT, Logan Utah, and Wheat Ridge Colorado (OK)

Supernanny (Lifetime)

To Catch A Smuggler (Nat Geo)

Gold Rush (Discovery)

10:00

Blue Bloods (CBS): Rerun (D'oh!) from October has "Frank and Erin at odds when Frank learns the DA's office is keeping a list of officers they consider to be unreliable witnesses; Danny and Baez recruit a retired mobster to assist in an investigation (That would be recurring character Dan Hedaya); and a predator is posing as a ride share driver." (and of course its up to supercop Jamie to stop him) (Be honest, if i didn't point out this was a rerun ep, would anyone outside of maybe Patrick have noticed???) (Also. Also, Also...CBS! CBS! CBS!)

Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO)

11:00

High Maintenance (HBO): Returning for a 4th season is this sorta vignette filled show about a pot dealer who cruises around Manhattan making deliveries. "The Guy finds a lost canine; a reporter pitches a story about her parents' marriage and inadvertently strains her own relationship when her boyfriend visits for their anniversary weekend; and a singing telegram is in a bad mood and looking for some relief" (OOOOOK)

HAPPY WEEKEND ONE AND ALL--I HOPE ITS GOOD FOR YOUS GUYS!
