Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Feb. 19

Introducing today's contestants:

- Sam, an international trade manager from Washington, D.C., took two months to go around the world;
- Adam, a client escalations manager from New York, cliff dives from up to 50 feet; and
- MacKenzie, a program development director from Oklahoma, has your square-shaped weaving needs covered. MacKenzie entered the game as a two-day champ with winnings of $38,800.

Super contest in which Sam opened a big lead with a healthy wager on DD2, after which MacKenzie was nearly unstoppable, leading into FJ with $30,200 vs. $23,400 for Sam and $3,600 for Adam.

DD1, $400 - AROUND THE WORLD - The 3 T's in Chinese censorship are Taiwan, Tibet & this locale made infamous in 1989 (Sam won $1,800 on a true DD.)

DD2, $800 - A DISASTER AREA - In the 1670s the 202-foot monument column was built in this city near the origin of a large fire a few years before (Sam won $7,000 from his score of $10,400 vs. $6,600 for MacKenzie.)

DD3 - $1,200 - MYTHICAL CREATURES - Those who couldn't answer her riddle "What walks on 4 legs in the morning, 2 at noon, and 3 in the evening" were killed (MacKenzie won $8,000 from her total of $11,400 vs. $20,200 for Sam. I would have liked this bet even better if MacKenzie had gone all-in to take the lead.)

FJ - INTERNATIONAL SPORTS - It's the only country that has played in every FIFA World Cup tournament, winning 5 times

MacKenzie and Sam were correct on FJ. Sam decided to give up a chance to win if both he and MacKenzie missed by betting everything and MacKenzie covered him by $1, betting $16,601 to win with $46,801 for a three-day total of $85,601.

Book blunders: No one could provide the male first name from "Why Johnny Can't Read", or the title of Betty Freidan's influential work about unsatisfied housewives, "The Feminine Mystique".

This day in Trebekistan: After far too many leftovers this week, Alex opened the show with "Let's see if we can clear the board", which they successfully did in both rounds.

Correct Qs:
DD1 - What is Tiananmen Square?
DD2 - What is London?
DD3 - What is the Sphinx?
FJ - What is Brazil?
