Jeopardy! recap for Tue., Feb. 11

Here are today's contestants:

- Danyelle, a scientist from West Virginia, handles live biowarfare agents;
- Kristyna, a corporate strategist from Alberta, has visited 80 countries, including her favorite Egypt; and
- Vinny, a student from Massachusetts, studies government with a goal of doing "not government". Vinny entered the game as a one-day champ with winnings of $3,399.

Kristyna had the lead when she picked DD3 and was correct, but went with a small wager, which along with a $4,000 negative score adjustment, allowed Danyelle to take first place going into FJ with $9,800 vs. $9,200 for Kristyna and $5,600 for champ Vinny.

DD1, $1,000 - TIME ZONE CITIES - Detroit, Michigan (Kristyna won $2,000 from her score of $2,200.)

DD2, $1,200 - "M"EN OF THE PAST - On July 20, 1937, we short-waved goodbye to this Italian inventor (Vinny lost $3,000 from his total of $5,800 vs. $7,800 for Danyelle.)

DD3, $1,600 - I WRITE A SYMPHONY - The Finnish govt. commissioned him to write a symphony to celebrate his own 50th birthday & he conducted the premiere on the same day (Kristyna won $1,000 from her score of $8,600 vs. $7,800 for Danyelle.)

FJ - AMERICAN HISTORY - After statesman and banker Robert Morris turned down a job offer from George Washington, this man took the job

Everyone was correct on this very easy FJ. Danyelle made an unusual play from the lead by only betting $3,612, but Kristyna also made a small bet of $2,001, so Danyelle scored the victory with $13,412.

That's before our time: No one knew Erich Segal's "weepy bestseller about a dying coed" from five decades ago, "Love Story".

Jeopardy! rule book: A clue made a reference to "gangster rap" (not "gangsta"), but don't take that to mean you can respond with "Gangster's Paradise".

Shameless shilling: Want to travel behind the Iron Curtain in comfort? Then be sure to go with Viking! Also note that the video category plus plug at the end helped contribute to five leftovers in DJ.

Correct Qs:
DD1 - What is Eastern?
DD2 - Who was Marconi?
DD3 - Who was Sibelius?
FJ - Who was Hamilton?
