Also Evil (EEEEEEEEEVVVIIIILLLLLLLL) finishes out its first season on CBS (CBS!) And A Certain Hocking loving commenter's favorite is back for a new season tonight. So let us all give thanks to WOT for this January 30th 2020!
(Streaming) Picard (CBS All Access) "He begins investigating the mystery of Dahj as well as what her existence means for the Federation; Without Starfleet's help, Picard is left leaning on others' support for help including a former colleague who might have her own agenda" (PICARD!!!!)
CBS All Access also has a new episode of "Tell Me A Story" (is anybody here watching that??? Is James Wolk still on it or is it an entirely different cast in its 2nd season???)
The Stranger (Netflix) New miniseries based on a Harlan Coben novel starring Richard Armitage and Jennifer Saunders (ooh) "A web of secrets sends a family man on a desperate quest to find out the truth about those closest to him" (That could mean anything!!!)
Netflix also has something called Ainori Love Wagon: African Journey (which is a reality show about seven Japanese people traveling thru the African continent together or something I dunno)
Broadcast
8:00
Young Sheldon (CBS): Gerorge Sr. and his son Georgie go camping with Craig T Nelson, but things get complicated when Wallace Shawn shows up; Missy and Sheldon invent a new game. (nods)
Superstore (NBC): Sandra and Jerry are finally getting married (Somebody's Getting Maaarrrriiieeeddd) but when Jonah's attempt to help the caterer goes awry and with Dina's obsession with security both threaten to derail the big day, it is up to Amy to try and save it. (nods) Also Garrett struggles with his best man toast. (It does not help that Garrett barely knows Jerry but he's a good speaker, i'm sure he can think of something!)
Last Man Standing (FOX): Vanessa learns a secret that she thinks will ruin Ed and Bonnie's wedding day. (Aww Hector Elizondo's character is getting married, and i think his character already has several ex wives as well if i remember right)
Station 19 (ABC): The new Seattle fire chief is introduced but Station 19 is skeptical of his (or her) leadership abilities; A department store fire is caused by an exploding fireworks display triggering painful memories from Ben's past which inspires him to pursue a new endeavor. (That's a heck of a sentence--what is Ben a literary character all of a sudden???)
Supernatural (The CW): Sam and Dean press their luck in a winner takes all game of pool (???); Castiel hunts down a would be murderer, but not for reasons that one might think. (Wait what are the reasons one might think???)
Grown-ish (Freeform): Nomi challenges Zoey to try to be friends with Luca after their breakup; Zoey is forced to consider if its possible to be friends with an ex; Jazz and Doug help Vivek navigate the world of dating apps. (nods)
Love on the Shore (Hallmark): Your Hallmark Movie of the night is this one where "An author's summer plans are disrupted by the unruly surfer living next door to her rental cabin" (Unruly Surfer?!?!?!?) Starring Amanda Righetti and Carrot Top. (No i'm kidding, its some guy named Peter Porter, but God you could imagine Carrot Top in a Hallmark Movie???)
8:30
The Unicorn (CBS): When Wade decides to redo his will, he is conflicted about whom he should leave custody of his daughter to; Michelle has to convince Ben to get a vasectomy after they have a pregnancy scare. (Good Luck Michelle!)
The Good Place (NBC): In this 90 minute finale (90 minutes?!?!?!?) Various conversations occur between various groups of people. (Wow could that synopsis BE more vague?!?!?!?) The episode is titled "Whenever You're Ready" (If you guys remember last week's episode actually ended in a pretty sweet place for everyone on the show, so the idea of tonight's finale being a full hour and a half leaves me wondering what's left for the show to possibly do--but we'll see what they come up with!) (Also Viva Ted Danson!)
Outmatched (FOX): After giving their kids "the talk", Mike and Kay start to overthink how their own sex life and turn to their two friends for advice. Brian and Nicole meanwhile fear that they are behind when they realize that neighter of them has had their first kid yet. (So how is that a problem???)
Everything's Gonna Be Ok (Freeform): Nicolas is terrible at love (ok); Genevieve's ambivalence about Nicolas's boyfriend Alex take an unfortunate turn when the 3 go out together; Michelle wants to bake Luke a cake but takes her brother's advice. (On how to bake the cake, or whether to bake the cake???)
9:00
Mom (CBS):Christy is troubled when sparks fly between Tammy and Chef Rudy; Bonnie overreacts when her therapist accuses her of rejecting his help. (Soo Tammy is of course Kristen Johnson and Chef Rudy is French Stewart, so what we have here is a mini 3rd Rock From the Sun reunion happening here--and I could not be more delighted that this is finally happening---although the idea of Sally and Harry being romantic interests for one another is quite far fetched--but i've been waiting for the show to give the 2 of them a scene together since the show added Johnson to the cast last year!)(Add to that Rainn Wilson who plays Bonnie's therapist and you got a good guest cast for this one!)
Deputy (FOX): When Joseph's childhood friend is wrongfully accused by the LAPD, he invites Bill on his mission to find the truth; Paula is put in a tough position when the hospital puts her in charge of making staff cuts to meet its budget. (Maybe the two plotlines will converge when it turns out that Joseph's childhood friend is on the payroll and making entirely too much money)
Grey's Anatomy (ABC): Richard finds out that Maggie quit Grey Sloan and he is concerned about how she's handling the death of her parent. (Awww); Bailey returns to work after taking some personal time; Meredith thinks she might miss DeLuca (Awww); Amelia updates Link on her pregnancy. (Grey's Anatomy...yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Grey's Anatomy...oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Grey's Anatomy and Grey's Anatomy and Grey's and Grey's Anatomy...)
Legacies (The CW): After learning that Josie, Lizzy and Alaric are all in trouble, Hope leads the charge to save them all. Landon seizes an opportunity to prove himself useful; and MG's attempt at a perfect first date with Kym takes a disastrous turn. (The episode is titled "What Cupid Problem?") (Legacies....yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Legacies and Legacies and Legs and Legs of Cies)
Project Runway (Bravo): The designers face a one day challenge using sexy sheer fabrics, staying in the game becomes more and more difficult for several designers who are reaching their personal limits and questioning their abilities to make it thru to the end. (The episode is titled "Sheer Genius") (Project Runway...yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Project Runway and Project Runway and Project Runnnwaaaayyyy--I'll stop now)
30 For 30 (ESPN): "VICK" is a comprehensive look at the rise and fall and the rather polarizing return of one Michael Vick--professional NFL quarterback and gambler on dog fighting rings. (I'm gonna go ahead and guess that this is not sponsored by the ASPCA)
The Bold Type (Freeform): Leah crosses paths with a closeted singer who had asked for help in coming out; Jane has her first mammogram and spirals into anxiety waiting for the results; Sutton and Richard's long distance relationship hits a snag. (I wonder if this show's audience overlaps with Grey's Anatomy's at all--i mean surely it must right?)
Swamp People (History) (Swamp People Got No Reason...Swamp People Got No Reason...Swamp People Got No Reason...To Live)
Restaurant Impossible (Food): Carmine's Chianti Cow in Port Jervis NY is featured.
Reclaimed (Discovery) Gold Mines are re-claimed! (No seriously that's what this show is about)
7 Worlds, 1 Planet (BBCA): Tonight they profile North America (!!!!!) Linx prowl the Yukon for snowshoe hares and manatees seek hot springs to escape the freeze in the wintertime; Meanwhile in the summertime, Tennessee fish build impressive underwater pyramids, and polar bears leap from rocks, while fireflies light up the nighttime skies (but not alas on Fox broadcasting.)
Gomer Pyle (MeTV): A visiting congressman befriends Gomer and suggests that his commanding officer promote him to corporal. (Well Gollleeeee)
9:30
Carol's Second Act (CBS): Lexie and Jenny tease Carol when her neighbor shows signs that he might have a crush on her; Dr. Frist suggests that Maya and the interns forgo using technology as a crutch and instead use traditional medical practices on their patients. (This is a plotline?!?!?!?) The episode is titled "Night Lemons" btw which i'm surprised was never a 30 Rock episode title now that i'm thinking about it.
10:00
Evil (CBS): David, Kristen, and Ben assess whether a pregnant woman is possessed when she claims that one of her unborn twins that she's carrying is evil (Nice); Kristen questions one of her daughters' capacity for evil. (Does this mean one of the kids is actually gonna get distinguished from the other three??? Cause all 4 have pretty much been a fairly undistinguished group for majority of show thus far--with the only difference I can honestly tell you being the various ages of them all) This Is The Season Finale BTW---but Its already been renewed for a season 2 soooo To Be Continued Maybe???
Law and Order Special Victims Unit (NBC): Benson investigates a police officer with accusations of sexual assault; (that has literally been the plotline of an episode of this show at least a dozen if not more times at this point in the show's run); Captain Tucker's retirement party ends in tragedy. (Poor Captain Tucker! Also who the heck is Captain Tucker????) (The episode is titled "Longest Night of Rain")
A Million Little Pieces (ABC): as Rome and Regina continue to move forward with the adoption process, they must help Delilah with a troubled Sophie; Gary confronts Eric about his past; and Eddie pursues a new music opportunity. (If you've seen the ads for this you know Gary confronting Eric is gonna result in Gary getting arrested because the ads have all had one of the other characters saying "Gary got arrested") (Also Gary if you didn't know is played by the always affable Psych from Psych) (well i guess if he's getting arrested here, he's probably not so affable, but normally he's pretty affable)
Impractical Jokers (Tru TV): SEASON EIGHT (EIGHT!) of this versatile prank comedy premieres tonight with the gang posing as nutritionists trying to recruit new clients; then quit their jobs for a litany of bizarre reasons; Later the guys go head to head in a debate judged by a total stranger; The punishment takes its toll on the loser putting him in a tight spot. (The episode is titled "The Toll Booth Collectors" which I gotta imagine is like The Bone Collector but with tollbooths!)
Alone: The Beast (History): New reality show premiering tonight about a bunch of people alone and trying to survive in the Arctic (again with the Arctic???) with no tools and just the body of a fallen animal that they need for nourishment, and they gotta find a way to keep and preserve said body. (OK)
The Dead Files (Travel)
Supernanny (Lifetime): BE GOOD BE GOOD BE GOOD BE GOOD BE GOOD BE GOOD BE GOOD BE GOOD BE GOOD JOHNNY
Building Off the Grid (Discovery): A modular home build off the grid and high atop a cliff on the edge of Vancouver--this house faces an 80 foot drop if the foundation below it crumbles. (So why have it built then?!?!?!? Some people will do anything to have a view!!!)
THAT"S IT FOR ME--STECHEL OVER AND OUT?!?!?!?!? (HAVE A FANTABULOUS THURSDAY?!?!?!?!?)
