Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Jan. 8

Please welcome today's contestants:

- Shaun, an entrepreneur from Florida, is on the show due to a "clerical error" (high five);
- Rachel, a program associate from Washington, D.C., torments friends with puns; and
- Lisa, a community volunteer from Texas, brought a mystery presidential candidate to speak. Lisa entered the game as a one-day champ with winnings of $14,700.

Lisa increased her lead on DD3 while her opponents faded away, leaving her with a runaway at $13,800 vs. $4,200 for Rachel and $2,300 for Shawn.

DD1, $800 - TV HOMES & ADDRESSES  - A lot of this sitcom took place in apartment 5A at 129 West 81st street in Manhattan; the neighbor from 5B was a regular (Shaun won $400 from his score of $4,600.)

DD2, $1,600 - RIVER ISLANDS - This island of more than 1.5 million people is near the confluence of the Ottawa River & St. Lawrence River (Shaun lost $1,500 from his total of $7,000 vs. $7,400 for Lisa.)

DD3, $2,000 - JEOPARDY! IN 2-D - This ancient priestly class had mostly died out by the 400s because most Celts had become Christians (Lisa won $2,000 from her score of $8,200 vs. $5,000 for Rachel.)

FJ - EUROPEAN HISTORY - It took the French army until 1995 to declare him innocent, 101 years after he was convicted of treason

Only Shaun was correct. Lisa, who is now 0-for-2 on FJ, dropped $4,000 to win with $9,800 for a two-day total of $24,500.

Triple Stumper of the day:  The players struggled mightily in a category about composers portrayed on film, including not knowing "Immortal Beloved" is about Beethoven.

TV troubles: No one was familiar with the Netflix show about wrestlers "GLOW" or that Tara Strong voices Twilight Sparkle on the animated series "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" (Alex gave the correct response as "My Little Pony", but that is incorrect as that's a much earlier series with a different cast.)

This day in Trebekistan: Perhaps Alex had recently seen "Hercules in New York", since after Rachel responded to FJ with "Arnold", the host asked if she meant Arnold Stang or Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Correct Qs:
DD1 - What is "Seinfeld"?
DD2 - What is Montreal Island?
DD3 - Who are the Druids?
FJ - Who was Dreyfus?
