Year-in-Review: The best movies of 2019... and the 2010s

Gravity / Inception / La La Land / Life of Pi / Roma
Welcome to the What's On Tonight & Pop Culture thread for your best movies of the year and the best of the decade!

This is the first year so if this proves something of value to us, maybe it'll become an annual thing. Mainly, I wanted to see how migrating the conversation from being buried in a WOT thread could expand/extend such chatter.

Yes, 2019 isn't quite over yet and not every big movie has made its way across the country. Here in central Iowa, 1917, Waves, and A Hidden Life have yet to appear. Therefore, I wouldn't call many non-professional best of lists complete at this point (especially not before Oscars season is done), but we've likely sampled a good portion of movies and have some favorites that won't easily be booted from a best-of list.

Avengers: Infinity War / Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, Part 2 / How to Train Your Dragon / Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse / The Tree of Life

Want some help? Can't quite decide on a list? Here is the 2019 box office list. For a broad critical spotlight, Rotten Tomatoes' has its Best of 2019. Parasite, The IrishmanThe Farewell, and Portrait of a Lady on Fire, and Marriage Story are some of the leading favorites. Here are some more lists to sample if that's your thing:
If you want more, I suggest checking out this place.

12 Years a Slave / The Favourite / The Social Network / Star Wars: The Force Awakens / Whiplash
Even if you feel the need to sample more before affirming a best of 2019 (I need to watch more documentaries before I am fully comfortable in my list), this year also marks the end of a decade, a list that should be fairly settled at this stage. A decade that saw the franchise tighten its grip on studios, streaming services become a player, A24 breathe some new life into indie cinema, a new Star Wars trilogy, Chinese appeal become a necessity, subtitle film draws drop, and screen inclusiveness and diversity (finally) rise... and which some movies really spoke to us.

The list possibilities are vast and really show your film preference when taking pickings from 10 years worth of cinema.
Again, if you want more, check out this place.

List one. List 100. Rank them. Alphabetize them. Whatever... What are your top movies of 2019 (so far)? What are your best of the 2010s?
