What's On Tonight (Friday): The Mandalorian Ends Its First Season And The World Sighs

Hello one and all, once again there is nothing, there might be less than the usual amount of nothing here since even streaming seems to be largely taking the weekend off over here. Anyways this is what's on for December 27th 2019

Streaming:

Top Pick tonight is the season finale of The Mandalorian which somehow became the most liked Star Wars thing of the past couple of years over its brief time on the air. I have personally not seen it (still waiting for someone with Disney Plus to give me the hook up) but i'm gonna bet that Baby Yoda makes yet another heartbreaking appearance. The plotline such as it is has Pedro Pascal's title character facing his biggest enemy yet--and it will be an unexpected one, and the two of them will have to fight for the future of (Oh Lord) Baby Yoda. (Oh I knew he was gonna figure into this somehow---so its "The Good, The Bad, And The Baby Yoda" basically)

Disney Plus in addition to Mandalorian has new eps of Encore, High School Musical The Series, Marvel's The Hero Project, and The World According To Jeff Goldblum

Meanwhile Apple TV has new episodes of The Servant, and Truth Be Told premiering tonight as well.

Hulu has the American premiere of Season 8 of the Canadian comedy series LetterKenny (which i've been recommended before) as well the premiere of an animated spinoff called LittleKenny (which in googling i've discovered is an animated series based on the origin story of The Hicks and how they ended up becoming fast friends in elementary school) (I'm guessing they had stuff in common?)

Netflix has a new series called The Gift which is about a painter in Istanbul who goes on a personal journey as she researches secrets of an Anatolian archeological site and its connections to her own past. (Its Turkish language btw)

and lastly Netflix also has a new documentary about Kevin Hart (I'm gonna assume its a comedic documentary) called "Kevin Hart-Don't Fuck This Up" in which he talks about his marriage, his fame, and feelings about the two as he lives increasingly under a microscope. (Well yeah because you're super famous!)

Broadcast:

8:00

Hawaii 5-0 (CBS): In this rerun from last February,  Junior must try to apprehend the current boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend when he's implicated in a bank robbery gone bad, and it turns out the two of them have a whole lotta history between them. (of course they do!)

Dolly Parton: Christmas of Many Colors (NBC): In this slightly late for Christmas telecast from 2016, its a sequel to Dolly's Coat of Many Colors movie with Ricky Schroeder as Dolly's dad who's struggling to come up with money to buy Dolly's mom played by Jennifer Nettles a wedding ring amidst an oncoming blizzard.

American Housewife (ABC): Literally a rerun of the Christmas set episode that aired two weeks ago! (with Wendie Malick!!!)

Friday Night Smackdown (FOX): Perhaps the only non-rerun of the night is this show which I guess means it was a smart investment for Fox to make since you know the same audience that tunes into it every week is gonna tune in tonight knowing full well that it'll be new. (although really...)

Legends of Guitar (The CW): This hour long filler special is being hosted by ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons and has him interviewing various rock and roll guitar legends and possibly performing with them as well. Hey if you like ZZ Top...it might actually be worth a look! George Thorogood apparently is in here as well.

A Shoe Addict's Christmas (Hallmark): Candice Cameron Bure plays a woman who is obsessive about shoes who receives a visit from Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. (Do they show her how she's alienated everyone around her with her obsessive zeal for collecting shoes???) (Its Gotta Be The Shoes!!!)

8:30

Fresh Off the Boat (ABC): Rerun of the episode where Eddie's girlfriend Trina meets his mom and unexpectedly hits it off with her causing Eddie to spontaneously combust once he realizes that the two of them have way more in common than he ever thought they would. (Because they'd both like to fix him you see...)

9:00

Magnum PI (CBS): In this rerun episode from last January--Magnum finds himself competing with every other bounty hunter on the island when a man who's wanted for murder whom Magnum has a past connection with is placed with a big fat bounty on his head by a mobster. (This i believe was the episode that was run on CBS after the giant football game that determines who was gonna be playing in the Super Bowl last year which i think resulted in this being their most seen episode although i'll bet that half the people who saw it don't remember it)

20/20 (ABC): Rerun of the John Wayne and Lorena Bobbit episode. (shudders)

Popstars--2019 In Review (The CW): Another hour filler this time counting down the top 20 most memorable pop cultural moments of the year. (Of course who knows what metrics their using to measure here--again its The CW---Crisis on Infinite Earths will probably end up being No. 1)

Crafts In America (PBS): QUILTS!! (Quilts--What's the matter with these quilts these days??? Quilts--who can understand anything they say...)

Gomer Pyle (MeTV): Gomer finds a woman who shares his interest in monster movies and cherry sodas! (Wow--most women never like those two things!!!!) (I kinda wish our former home hadn't eaten up all the WOT's I wrote during the summer now because think of all the lost recounted Gomer Pyle plot summaries now!!!)

Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives (Food): A place in Burlington Vermont that makes great mac and cheese pancakes; a place in Richmond Virginia famous for its grits; and a place in Ottawa Canada that's a popular artistic eatery. (I wonder if Flo works in the place that's famous for its grits)

Gold Rush (Discovery): Racing to get a Monster Red running after finding out that its the only way to strike gold. (I dunno either!)

9:30

Green Acres (MeTV): Oliver's double arrives in town and stirs up trouble when he is seen kissing some random women around the town. (Oliver's Double...How Could You???)

Duran Duran-There's Something You Should Know (Showtime): Tracing the history of the band, this documentary looks closely at the 7 albums the band put out to try and get a sense of their shared history and turmoil. ("Her Name Is Rio And She Dances On The Sand")

10:00

Blue Bloods (CBS): In yet another rerun from last season (when are they gonna start rerunning this season's episodes???) Gormley tries to locate a former NYPD detective whom he believes is a threat to Frank's safety; Erin re-opens a closed case sparking some potentially dangerous sparks with her boss in her office; and Jamie is transferred over to a new precinct with a lot of problems that he alone must solve! (ok i made the "he alone must solve" part up)

Crafts In America (PBS): Identity---Artists offer up different representations of who they are via gender, race, and culture in sculptures and paintings. (Identity--what's the matter with identity todays--Identity--who can understand anything it says---this doesn't work as well when the word is more than one syllable long)

EHHH FORGET IT...I"M DONE HERE ....I LISTED BLUE BLOODS---WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT FROM THE TEN O'CLOCK HOUR? OTHER OPTIONS?!?!?!? HEEEYYYY FUGGETT ABOUT IT!!! HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND THO YOUS GUYS!!!
