Hello Everybody! Tonight's SNL (SNL! SNL! SNL!) brings us the return of J. Lo hosting for only the third time, which seems low for somebody who's been as famous for as long as she has--she's been famous for a little over 20 years now, which is kind of mind boggling to me cause I still feel like Selina wasn't all that long ago. (If i remember right Selina was her first proper lead role in a film) Anyways, I remember her first time stint as a host in February of 2001---I remember it being funny honestly. I have absolutely no memory of her 2nd time as a host in February of 2010. Like none at all. (I was actually doing stand up and regularly hitting open mics those first several months of 2010--so there's a possibility i wasn't even home to see it then, tho I feel like I would've more than likely taped it if that was the case as I was still very much a die hard SNL fan--and to have watched it in those days, you pretty much had to be because you know the overuse of Kristen Wiig's characters and whatnot)
Anyways for more info on J. Lo's tenure on SNL--apparently she was the musical guest in an episode from February of 2000, but not the host, just the musical guest! (Alan Cumming was apparently the host in that February of 2000 episode--I don't remember him hosting like at all! I'd assume he was good tho!) Interestingly she has been parodied on the show by numerous people over the years---apparently Lucy Lawless did an impersonation of her when she hosted the show in 1998. (Lucy Lawless really?!?!?) Cheri Oteri did an impression of her in 2000, (the still image in the SNL wiki page of J.Lo which is where i take all my info from btw--has an image of her next to Jamie Foxx, so i'm assuming he was the host then) and Maya Rudolph did an impression of her in sketches that aired in both 2004 and in 2005. I don't know why this was pertinent but it gave me something to write about! Hooray!
Musical guest tonight is the much joked about by HockeyMike "DaBaby" Will DaBaby live up to its pretty damn eye catching moniker? I'm skeptical, but truth be told I'm skeptical about most modern music that gets booked on the show these days. (Who am I here? My dad? God this is exactly something my dad used to say back in the 90s when I was a fan of the musical acts that would be on the show--I'm not supposed to be down on the musical groups that SNL books for at least another decade here damnit!)
I'm crossing my fingers for a good show you guys!
Also I have zero idea what the SNL Vintage that's set to air tonight is. Like even the NBC website itself doesn't have a listing of what episode is gonna be up--so it'll be a total surprise. Will it be something from last year the way that most of them have been? Or will it actually be a Vintage one. Or will it be the one that J.Lo hosted from 2001? Cause again I remember that being a good one--i think the reason I remember that one is because i was not expecting it to be good like at all, so it took me by surprise so I remember being like "this is a lot better than i was expecting it to be!"
