Jeopardy! recap for Thur., Dec. 26

Let's meet today's contestants:

- Usha, an educator from New York, supports math and science Olympiads for students; and
- Alex, an actuary from Ohio, plays the cello. Alex entered the game as a one-day champ with winnings of $28,801.


Champ Alex appeared to be in good shape in DJ, but missed DD3 and kept going in the wrong direction, while Karen kept improving on her way to a runaway at $16,200 vs. $6,800 for Alex and $1,000 for Usha.

DD1, $800 - TO THE OLD TOWN ROAD - This city calls Elfreth's Alley, between 2nd Street & the Delaware River, "America's oldest residential street" (Alex won $1,600 on a true DD vs. $7,000 for Karen.)

DD2, $800 - THAT'S ECUADORABLE - Ecuador took possession of these islands in 1832, 3 years before the got a visit from a famous scientist (Alex added $3,000 to his total of $4,400 vs. $9,000 for Karen.)

DD3 (video), $1,200 - THE "BAR" EXAM - This primate, seen here, lives in coastal countries of North Africa (Alex lost $3,000 from his score of $12,200 vs. $9,000 for Karen.)

FJ - 19TH CENTURY HISTORY - Wanting more influence in the area he called Latin America, Napoleon III installed an emperor in this country

Karen was the only player to be correct on FJ, adding $1,000 to win with $17,200.

Triple Stumpers of the day: No one knew the woman born in 1925 who met "Poppy" in 1941 was Barbara Bush, or the "bar" that protects passengers when a vehicle flips over is the roll bar.
