What's On Tonight (Wednesday): Another nightmare first family in the Oval

The Oval, "The Pilot" (via Tenor)
Salutations! The top pick tonight is Tyler Perry's really, really, really bad White House soap opera The Oval. This selection might be the most prestigious thing the show gets. I've only watched the pilot, but it was horrible, and all of Tyler Perry's bad plot devices and character structures are on full show. It opens with the first couple physically assaulting each other, but the cast is 15-large so inadequately executed stories are plentiful. Elsewhere, the new options are slimmer given the holiday tomorrow. PBS examines our plastic problem, the Peanuts gang celebrate Thanksgiving, the Titans visit the Doom Patrol, Marty has a new gangster movie, and the Canadian sketch comediennes wrap for the season. So helloooooo Mr. Wilson, here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, November 27!

πŸ’» STREAMING

Broken (Netflix, 3 a.m.): PREMIERE. An investigative docuseries about how negligence and deceit in meeting consumer demands can have a bad outcome. Topics include counterfeit makeup, ready-made furniture, vaping products, and the plastic and recycling industries.

Castle Rock (Hulu, 3 a.m.): "Annie sees things for what they are."

The Irishman πŸŽ₯ (Netflix, 3 a.m.): In this Scorsese movie that is definitely not connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, former labor union high official and hitman Robert De Niro looks back on his life and the hits that defined his mob career, maintaining connections with the Bufalino crime family. In particular, the part he claims to have played in the disappearance of his life-long friend, Al "Jimmy Hoffa" Pacino.✔️

EARLY PRIMETIME

Jeopardy! πŸ’² (Syndicated, check your local listings): Beth won her second game in a runaway. Can she keep it going? Chat about it tomorrow.

Teen Titans Go! (Cartoon Network, 6 p.m.): Beast Boy goes to visit the Doom Patrol and he, Negative Girl, and Robotman discover some crabs are up to no good. Cyborg becomes inseparable from Robotman.✔️

πŸ•— EASTERN / πŸ•– CENTRAL

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving / This Is America, Charlie Brown: The Mayflower Voyagers πŸ“Ί (ABC, 8 p.m.): The 1973 Peanuts Thanksgiving classic is followed by the not-so-great 1988 special.

The Christmas Club πŸŽ₯πŸŽ„ (Hallmark Channel, 8 p.m.): Two white people find life's meaning during the holiday season and also fall in love, probably.

Dennis the Menace πŸ“Ί (Antenna TV, 8 p.m.): And so begins Antenna TV's entire weekend of Dennis the Menace. All episodes will air but there will be breaks for Johnny Carson every night. In the first episode, Dennis sneaks out on his sitter to go to the movie theater where his parents are and causes trouble at the theater.✔️

Doctor Who πŸ“Ί (Retro TV, 8 p.m.): The Doctor (Colin Baker), former companion Jamie McCrimmon, and current companion Peri work to save the younger Doctor (Patrick Troughton) from the biogeneticist Dastari, who plans to steal the knowledge of time travel from the Doctor's genetic make-up.

Ellen's Game of Games (NBC, 8 p.m.): Volunteers from Ellen's studio audience play her outrageously fun games for the chance to win $100,000.

Survivor (CBS, 8 p.m.): A castaway must prove how well they know their fellow castaways when presented with a game-changing opportunity.

πŸ•˜ EASTERN / πŸ•— CENTRAL

Almost Family (Fox, 9 p.m.): Julia develops feelings for Donovan, but as the topic of children arises, they seem to disagree. Amanda suggests that she and Edie go on a weekend getaway. Meanwhile, in court, Edie catches Amanda off guard.

Family Time (Bounce TV, 9 p.m.): Ebony attends her senior prom, and Devin hides a secret from his parents.

Nova (PBS, 9 p.m.): Camera traps and drones offer an up-close look at animals without disturbing them, providing insight into the secret world of animals such as whales, tigers and giant armadillos.

⭐ The Oval (BET, 9 p.m.): Tonight, Sharon, the girlfriend to Barry, the son of the White House butler, makes a decision that could sabotage the two relationships most important to her. I quit after the pilot, but in that one episode, the First Daughter hates FLOTUS so she immediately tries to bang the service staff, the Chief of Staff's wife cheats with some guy she met on an airplane, and the mother of the Butler's grandson is in a serious cult. Plus, the First Lady is a major control freak. Seriously, this show is the embodiment of Tyler Perry's horrible writing of women characters. The men here aren't good people, but they are mostly alphas.

SEAL Team (CBS, 9 p.m.): While Jason is sidelined with an injury, Ray takes over and leads the team on a mission to rescue a Marine pilot who was shot down in enemy territory.

Vice News Reports (Viceland, 9 p.m.): First up, a profile of gun violence and gang warfare in Chicago's south and west sides. Later, a profile of the gang violence the governments in Central America are struggling to deal with and the victims who have become desperate to escape.
