Here Ye, Here Ye---Here Be What Lies On TV This Friday November 15th 2019
Streaming: The Man In The High Castle returns to Amazon Prime for its 4th and final season. (This show already did 3 full seasons?!?!?!? God it feels like it just premiered last year!)
Hulu has a new show called "Dollface" that stars 2 Broke Girls star Kat Dennings (!!!!!!) as well as Brenda Song, Shay Mitchell, and Esther Povitsky (who is also worthy of exclamation points) Show is about "After being dumped by her longtime boyfriend Jules must deal with her own imagination to literally and metaphorically re-enter the world of women and rekindle the friendships she left behind" (Wait so she lost contact with her friends because of the boyfriend she had been with??? Well i mean i guess that happens to people)
Netflix has a new Mexican series called "The Club" about "a band of misfit rich kids in mexico strike out on their own selling MDMA and quickly run into trouble with other narcos" (all right well that happens too i guess)
and the 3rd season of a documentary series called "The Toys That Made Us"
Also premiering on Netflix tonight are some new movies including
"The Earthquake Bird" (Starring Alicia Vikander and Riley Keough--"A young female expat is suspected of murder after her friend goes missing in the wake of a tumultuous love affair with a handsome photographer"
A Bollywood movie called "House Arrest" ("A world weary man's self imposed confinement becomes a comedy of errors when a peculiar package and a curious journalist show up at his doorstep and won't go away") (This is a comedy?!?!?!?)
And an animated movie called Klaus ("After proving himself to be the worst postman at the Academy, a postman is posted to a frozen town in the North where he discovers Santa Claus is hiding out" (English language/Spanish animation)
Broadcast:
8:00
Hawaii 5-0 (CBS): The team searches for a killer whose plane crashed in the jungle with 10 million worth of heroin on board; Capt. Grover is thrilled when his niece Siobahn comes to try out for the University of Hawaii basketball team. (The first plotline sounds like classic 5-0, the second sounds like something that was made up by pulling words out of a hat...just think we might've been this close to her trying out for the jousting team! "does the University of Hawaii even have a jousting team???" "that's for our fact checkers to fact check--now lets get back to the A story of MacGarrett trying to fend off an alien invasion with the help of a magic stopwatch")
The Blacklist (NBC): The Task Force investigates the unexplained disappearance and then sudden re-emergence of a governor, (I swear to God i thought that was gonna read---"sudden re-emergence of Manifest Flight 828"); Red and Dembe survail someone close to Katerina Rostova, as she inadvertently involves young Agnes in an operation of her own. (Well Rostova is Agnes' grandmother...)
American Housewife (ABC): Katie teams up with Oliver in hopes of growing her lasagna making endeavor from hobby to serious business venture; a bout of writer's block forces Greg to look at a potential new career opportunity; Greg is pushed out of his comfort zone. (Wait so Greg gets two plotlines this week?!?!?!? That hardly seems fair, although if it means double the screentime of Diedrich Bader, than i'm all for it---I juuuuusssst realized his first name is literally "Died Rich")
Friday Night Smackdown (FOX): Another Friday Night, Another Two Hours of That Smackdown Action Being Handed Down And Passed Around Fom Generation To Generation. (I don't think this show spans generations there Matthew...Not Yet It Doesn't)
Charmed (The CW): Macy must fight a dangerous enemy to survive; Maggie's impromptu karaoke duet with Jordan may lead to answers about her powers; Mel and Harry take a gamble on a demon who may know the Assassin's whereabouts. (I do like any show that uses impromptu karaoke as a plot device....maybe they can get the demon to sing them some karaoke as well???)
Raven's Home (Disney): When Lexi starts hanging out with a new group of friends, Booker has a vision that leads him to believe that they're up to no good and try to steer Lexi away from them. ("Has a vision???" So this Booker guy is psychic or what????)
Christmas A La Mode (Lifetime): New original Lifetime movie premiee "A woman needs a miracle in order to save both her family farm and her father's legacy in time for a happy Christmas" (How does that not read "in time for a Merry Christmas?!?!?!?") Starring Katie Lederc, and Ryan Cooper.
A Christmas Cottage (Hallmark): Not to be outdone but Hallmark of course has its own Christmas movie tonight with "Lacey is asked to decorate a Christmas cottage, a cottage that comes with its own legend of love" (Legend of Love?!?!?!? Legend of Love?!?!?!?!? Legend of Love?!?!?!?) (So Flanders, What do you think of the cottage that Love Built????)
8:30
Fresh Off the Boat (ABC): Jessica worries about Evan's future as "doctor-president"; Eddie writes in Allen Iverson as his "hero" subject for an essay for school which sends Louis on a personal mission to prove that he's just as worthy of that title. (Nods--a worthy goal Louis, a worthy goal--my own dad tried to get me to write an essay about him once...i actually did, i wrote about what he does for a living, and it was a C paper--functional, yet drab, "You didn't write it right Matthew!!! You didn't play up the exciting things I do here" "Yeah I did! You got some excellent pork roast for lunch!")
Just Roll With It (Disney): Owen lets Blair talk him into borrowing Byron's autographed sneakers to impress the kids at school, but when the shoes get ruined, the kids go to great lengths to secure a new pair. (So its like Ferris Bueller but instead of the car, its a pair of shoes!)
9:00
Magnum PI (CBS): Magnum and Higgins new partnership is tested when they disagree about being hired by a woman who wants them to recover her 3 million in stolen drug money to secure her husband's life. (How do you disagree about being hired by someone? You're either hired or your not--you either agree to work the case and save the husband's life or you don't---Oh Magnum and Higgins--will you ever agree on anything you two crazy kids?!?!?!?)
Dateline (NBC):
20/20 (ABC): "Undercover Girlfriend"--When an Illinois University student goes missing, a suspect's girlfriend works with the FBI to go undercover and record a conversation that might just help crack the case. ("You Did It! You Cracked The Case!!!! Its Me In the Shower!!!") (That was from My Cousin Vinny btw---when i originally went looking for it via google, I was sure it was from My Blue Heaven)
Dynasty (The CW): Fallon ponders shaking things up with her company when Dominique presents her with a business proposition; Blake and Crystal focus on the trial; Kirby focuses on finding a man for Sam; Liam asks Fallon for a favor; and Jeff keeps a close watch on Blake. (Soooo a lot of people are doing a lot of things here....that should totally be a tag line for Dynasty--"Come Watch Dynasty--where a lot of people are continually doing all kinds of things!!! Fridays on The CW!)
Great Performances (PBS): "RED" The 2010 Tony Award winning play which is the story of painter Mark Rothko as he creates murals for The Four Seasons Restaurant. Starring Alfred Molina and Alfred Enoch. (Wait, wait, wait--Two actors both named Alfred?!?!?!? How did they not call it "Two Many Alfreds?!?!?!?" I'll show myself out)
Ancient Aliens (History): In 2019, millions responded to an internet post advocating storming the gates of the world's most top secret military installation--Area 51....but when they did, the U.S. military vowed to defend the base with deadly force. (Well yeah, its a military base, and they tend to not like getting stormed by anyone or anything, and you know they kinda have the weaponry to back that up with as well)
Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives (Food): All time turkey centric spots; At a Boston diner, Guy reminisces about this New Orleans traditional turkey which got the French Quarter flair with seafood stuffing; a chef in Alberquerque is still putting a New Mexico spin on her turkey. (I love the idea of Guy Fieri just soliloquying about these various flavored turkey dishes he's eaten in the past couple of years while taking a drag of a cigarette to luxuriate in that lost flavor he can still taste if he concentrates just right)
Gabby Dunn and the Unsittables (Disney): When Dina hires self proclaimed supersitter Susie Dustman to watch Olivia, Gabby's jealousy drives her to go toe to toe with the rival sitter for her sittee's attention. (See? That's why i like this show, because its not afraid to paint its lead character with feelings of being less than which we all have from time to time...its a very realistic portrayal of a young teenage girl getting to know her emotional pallet) (Uhh Matthew its a sitcom about a girl who's asked to continually babysit a bunch of alien offspring) (Sure, sure that too! Its an emotional firestorm!!! AC-TING!!! GENIUS!!!!)
The Preppy Murder--Death in Central Park (AMC): Part 5 of this 5 part true-crime mini-series doc, seeing as how this is the last part, I'm gonna guess it covers the trial, and the outcome of said trial yes?
Gold Rush (Discovery): Episode 6 (EPISODE 6!!!!)
Pariah: Life and Death of Sonny Liston (Showtime): This documentary about boxer Sonny Liston makes its premiere tonight. (shrugs) Maybe some of you will watch it??? (i gotta figure out how to make that shrug emoji! This would've been the perfect place to use that. "Maybe you wanna watch???")
9:30
Green Acres (MeTV): Fortuneteller Lisa predicts a stranger entering Oliver's life. (But technically anyone that Oliver doesn't know would constitute a stranger...)
10:00
Blue Bloods (CBS): Henry and Danny butt heads over a case involving a man who is volatile towards his wife; Frank is caught in the middle of an ongoing battle between the NYPD and the FDNY; and Erin ponders a life changing opportunity. (Nods CBS! CBS! CBS!)
Van Helsing (Syfy): Three pages are key to raising or destroying the Dark One; but only Hansen knows where they are hidden. (Neal McDonough plays Hansen if i remember right) (And yes i briefly considered making an MmmmBop joke here while typing that sentence up.) ("I'm Not Made of Stone!!!")
In Search Of (History): Nazi Secrets. (Pretty self explanatory??? Well i hope so cause that's all the cable guide synopsis gave me to go on)
Ghost Nation (Travel): Helping a local paranormal investigator (c'mon that's not actually a thing is it???) with her childhood home in Dover, Delaware; the haunting may be connected to a deadly stretch of road just yards from the property. (Booooooooooo----its a deadly stretch of roooooooooooaaaaddddd)
Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO): Season finale is tonight--next new installment won't be til halfway thru Jan of 2020. (Say what you will, but i'll miss having his monologue pop up in my youtube recommendations every weekend for the next month or two--i like comedians' monologues! What am i gonna do? Make up my own jokes?!?!?!? Well actually....)
11:00
Comedy Central Stand Up Presents (Comedy Central): 11:00---David Gborie
and at 11:30--Alien Strickland Williams (and no that's not a typo--his name is actually Alien!)
Outback Opal Hunters (Discovery): Series premiere of a new reality show about well hunters of opals in the outback if i had to guess. (makes sense)
Room 104 (HBO): In the latest installment of this anthology show----"Two stars of a 1970's horror show talk to a podcaster about the origins of their cult 1970's tv program and the on set jealousies that led to the demise of their friendship." (The episode is called "Night Shift" and is directed by Ben Kasulke whomever that is) (At some point i'm gonna have to actually sit down and watch this show--is it good? is it a mixed bag like most anthology shows that aren't The Twilight Zone are?)
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYBODY!!!! I HOPE ITS A GREAT ONE!!!
