Confirming what we all really knew: tax breaks meant to help poor neighborhoods have been funneled to Trump's billionaire friends. Well, probably not friends. More like rats of a feather. [ProPublica]

We got more tariffs today. Vindman said "there was no ambiguity." [Politico]

My favorite line from Fiona Hill was "I am not part of whatever drug deal Sondland and Mulvaney are cooking up on this" but she had plenty more good ones. {Politico}

Don't have time to read both? How about one story that combines the highlights? [CNN]

Bolton has a lot to tell us. But he won't tell us, nyah, nyah, nyah. Even when they won't testify these people still have to be attention whore crybabies. [CNN]

Mulvaney won't tell us because he has "absolute immunity". Hey Mick! Absolute immunity isn't a thing and you haven't been offered any kind of immunity. Even Executive privilege doesn't fly when crime is involved so suck it up and testify. [CNN]

Was that glee in Bannon's eye when he tore down Roger Stone? Stone is nominally a friend or at least not an enemy but Bannon likes to think of himself as a chaos agent. [Reuters]

Did DeVos realize she could go to prison if she continued to flout the law? It wasn't out of the kindness of her heart that suddenly today she forgave 1,500 junk student loans that she could have erased long ago. [The Hill]

Outgoing EU Prez Juncker is under the (mistaken) impression that Trump will drop tariffs on the EU. I thought he'd met Trump. [CNBC]

The military parade in Red Square in Moscow on May Day has a long history that stretches back to the Haymarket Riots in Chicago. May Day is celebrated around the world (but most certainly not in the US). The Russian version has more to do with Soviet intimidation than workers rights. The marching soldiers, tanks, missiles, etc. are a reminder that if Russia chooses to fight the US or anyone else they can inflict massive damage. Of course Trump wants to go. This is not Nixon Goes to China. This is Trump licking his boss' boots. [Reuters]

While we've been trying to oust Trump, Israel has been tearing itself apart trying to form a government. Netanyahu just made a deal with the far right, making Naftali Bennett Defense Minister. So say good bye to the West Bank. Maybe the Gaza Strip. Gantz has a few days left to form a government but with the far right in Netanyahu's pocket that ain't gonna happen. [Reuters]
