Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Nov. 20

Let's meet today's contestants:

- Dave, a biomedical engineer from Massachusetts, glided over the Charles River for two seconds;
- Elise, a financial counselor from New Jersey, makes art-inspired cupcakes; and
- Sathvik, a medical student from New Hampshire, likes to stick it to people. Sathvik is a one-day champ with winnings of $27,201.

Elise opened by running a French language category and dominated the action, but champ Sathvik got back in the game with a big move on DD2, entering FJ with $16,300 vs. $26,600 for Elise and $2,400 for Dave.

DD1, $800 - RACKET SPORTS - The Thomas Cup and the Uber Cup are presented by the BWF, this racket sport's world federation (Dave had $400 and lost the table limit of $1,000.)

DD2, $1,200 - I GOT RELIGION - This "directional" group formalized its split from Northerners in Augusta, Georgia in 1845 (Sathvik won $7,700 from his total of $8,600 vs. $21,800 for Elise.)

DD3, $800 - ISLAND NATION CAPITAL CITIES - Roseau, Dominica was burned by the French in 1805 & suffered near-total destruction by one of these in 1979 (Dave lost $6,000 from his score of $8,400.)

FJ - MOVIE & BOOK TITLES - This title of a 1962 novel & 1975 film refers to the direction the last of 3 geese took in an old nursery rhyme

Elise and Sathvik were correct on FJ, with Elise adding $8,000 to win with $34,600.

Clue selection strategy: With four clues left in DJ and DD3 remaining, two of them were from the category where DD2 had been found, along with $400 and $800 clues elsewhere. Elise had control of the board and should have gone straight to the $800 clue, the only logical place for DD3 to be hidden.

Shameless shilling: There was a video category devoted to Disney on Broadway, during which I heard for the first time part of that song from "Frozen", which has reportedly driven parents crazy from endlessly repeated play by their kids.

Correct Qs:
DD1 - What is badminton?
DD2 - What is Southern Baptist?
DD3 - What is a hurricane?
FJ - What is "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"?
