What's On Tonight (Thursday): The Unicorn Is Overly Polite Tonight.

Hey All--Here is what's on for Thursday October 3rd 2019

8:00

Young Sheldon (CBS): Without Dr. Sturgis' university class to regularly attend, Sheldon must find a new way to stay academically challenged; Mary helps Pastor Jeff avoid temptation with his girlfriend.  Ed Begley Jr. is guest starring! Ed Begley Jr!!!!! (I imagine Young Sheldon's need to stay engaged goes like this "Must...Stay...Academically Challenged...Must...Stay...Academically Challened....Must...Stay...Academically Challenged" Beep Beep "Ooh Lunchtime!")

Superstore (NBC): Amy attempts to gather glowing character testimony for Mateo's immigration lawyer but comes up short, Jonah plans an engagement party for Sandra infuriating Dina, and Glenn and Marcus compete to get Mateo's old locker. (Weirdly its that third plotline that seems to be the most appealing to me here--but that's probably because its Superstore, and they're generally at their best when dealing with low stakes stuff like lockers as opposed to the very high stakes of Mateo possibly being deported)

Grey's Anatomy (ABC): The doctors operate on a man who crashed into Maggie's car, Owen whom is back from his paternity leave, struggles with Tom's new position, Meredith's recent firing doesn't stop her from diagnosing those around her, Richard and Alex both try to start their careers anew but don't find it easy at all.  (Meredith is clearly going to be back at the hospital before too long right? I mean the show is named after her as is the hospital where the action takes place!)

Thursday Night Football (FOX): Tonight the L.A. Rams take on the Seattle Seahawks.

I Heart Radio Fall Concert Special (The CW): This is what's keeping Supernatural from season premiering for another week unfortunately. (To be fair, I get that The CW wanted their shows to mostly all come back in the same week but still to get filler programming at the beginning of October...)

Autumn In The Vineyard (Hallmark): Your Hallmark Channel Movie of the Evening is this one starring Rachel Leigh Cook (!!!!!) as a woman who must work together with a guy that she has a strained relationship with in order to have a good harvest season at the vineyard her father owns. (Good Harvest Season??? Are they Amish????) (They are not Amish, but could you imagine a Hallmark Channel movie about the Amish???)

UFO Cover Up Secrets Revealed (History): Speaking of things that i find it hard to imagine Hallmark Channel making a movie about....Tonight's entry in this weeklong special series tonight answers the question of whether or not there is some extraterrestrial or supernatural being suppressing the knowledge of alien activity (and UFO activity) from coming to light. (I thought that was humans suppressing knowledge of alien contact no? What are the humans and another extraterrestrial working together on this??? Maybe there's your Hallmark Channel Movie right there!!!!)

8:30

The Unicorn (CBS): Wade suddenly finds himself in a relationship he has no interest in being in when he has trouble turning down a second date with a woman due to his unfailing politeness; Wade tries to understand when Grace struggles with her social media posts. (I kind of like the idea of this as a comedic premise---"Uhh sure i'll go out with you again, i mean it couldn't possibly be worse than this first date right?" but i'm unsure how it'll play out. Isn't the whole thing about why people like him so much how sincere and well meaning he is???)

Perfect Harmony (NBC): Arthur defies local customs and the choir pays for his rudeness. For Cash's sake, Ginny vows to say nothing bad about Wayne. (For Cash Sakes You Guys!!!)

9:00

Mom (CBS): Christy and Adam clash over an incident at the bar leaving Bonnie in a precarious situation. Jill's new boyfriend has trouble finding a way to impress her. (I'm still not sure why Christy is working at the bar-wasn't she interning at a law firm at the end of last season?!?!?!?)

The Good Place (NBC): Eleanor, Michael, Janet, and Tahani have their hands full when the new residents begin to show their true colors. Jason receives some unsettling news. (Its gotta be Blake Bortles related....I mean that's the only thing that would unsettle him right cause everything else seems to roll off his back i guess with the exception of last week's attempted ass kicking of Zouks)

A Million Little Things (ABC): Eddie manages to keep Theo distracted while trying to track down Katherine. Maggie realized her mother's move to Boston might not just be for her. Regina struggles to accept Andrew's ideas about the restaurant, and PJ makes a shocking confession to Rome.

Outrageous Pumpkins (Food): I love the title of this pumpkin carving competition show. Also this isn't really a show right? I mean this is only something that could possibly air in the month of October. Also Outrageous Pumpkins is just fun to say really.

Naked and Afraid (Discovery): There's no episode synopsis available on my channel guide for this but if i had to guess it involves more people surviving brushes with danger and close calls with death in the wilderness while not wearing any clothes for some reason. (nods) Nailed It!

9:30

Carol's Second Act (CBS): When Carol treats an elderly patient whose tests are inconclusive, Carol must find a way to work around hospital policy to take extra time to observe her. Daniel is embarrassed when his fellow interns find out that he doesn't know how to draw fresh blood. (What are they vampires??? Oh man could you imagine a CBS sitcom about a group of vampire doctors??? They all work in a vampire hospital!!! And a middle aged vampire mom tries to become a new vampire doctor? What? Its an idea!)

Sunnyside (NBC): Garret and Griselda suspect Hakim is involved in something suspicious and Becky takes refuge in Jun Ho and Mei Lin's high society life. (Even tho i thought last week's pilot was ok at best, i think because of the extremely low ratings for this, this might end up actually being the first show of the season to get pulled from the schedule although don't quote me on that, but last week's premiere pulled a .4? .5? Its hard to see how this airs into November at that rating)

Green Acres (MeTV): Uncle Joe Carson seeks out to raise funds to afford the annual conventions of fire chiefs. (All Together Now----Uncle Joe Carson Takes Over The Fire Station!!!)

10:00

Evil (CBS): Kristen, David, and Ben investigate a supposed miracle when a teenage girl comes back to life after being declared dead for almost two hours. Kristen meets with her former boss and runs into the extremely creepy Leland Townsend.  (aka Michael Emmerson)  (I actually liked last week's pilot which i thought did a good job of keeping me slightly off track---even if introducing a demon named George was kinda silly in retrospect--but it succeeded in getting to me to go WTF??? which had to have been the intention! CBS! CBS! CBS!)

Law and Order: SVU (NBC):  Benson works with a young woman to help her remember the details and suspects in her rape. In order to learn a new interview technique Rollins and Fin have to experience it for themselves. ("Have to experience being interrogated or interviewed for themselves" i'm gonna assume is what the synopsis meant here) (Also Benson helping a woman remember details about her rape is practically a yearly episode at this point--cause they did one exactly like this last year as well and i vaguely remember seeing episodes like that in the past when i watched it a lot more regularly as well)

How To Get Away With Murder (ABC): This final season continues apace with "As Michaela, Asher, and Connor gear up for their last semester of law school, they take on a weighty case involving an illegal immigrant who wants asylum. Michaela boycotts going to class after a blowup with Annalise about her father. (I imagine that boycott might put a damper on the case...but maybe she's working the case from home? That's a possibility right?)

Mr. In-Between (FX): Learning if there is really any such thing as monsters. (Yes, yes there are such things as monsters, although they're mainly of the human kind---its like you've never seen tv before!)

Impractical Jokers (TRU TV): Get Your Hockey Mike On when "Joe, Sal, Q, and Murr play receptionists looking for suspicious names; the guys seek marriage advice from strangers after a private eye shares incriminating photos; and the big loser goes from pissed off to pissed on (?!?!?!?) in the name of one punishment." (You know i was in a bar that's outside my subway stop last night and the big screen tv's there had on TBS's reruns of Impractical Jokers, usually what they have on are sports highlights, but last night the bartender there seemed to really be into whatever was happening on Jokers because she was standing there staring at the screen like What Is This???)

Beat Bobby Flay (FOOD): Iron Chef Champ Alex Guarnaschilli tries to take on Bobby with the help of Tina Fey of all people. I'm not entirely sure what role Tina Fey is going to play here--will she actually try to help him cook or will she stand there and try to help out by making sarcastic remarks about Bobby thus distracting him??? (eyebrow raises)

HAVE A GOOD THURSDAY YOU PEOPLE!!! (HEY WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU PEOPLE???) I MEAN YOU TV WATCHING PEOPLE OF COURSE!!!!
