What's On Tonight (Monday): Bob May Heart Abishola But Does Bob Also Heart Nigeria??? (He Might!!!!)

Hello all, This is What's On for Monday October 7th 2019

8:00

The Neighborhood (CBS): When Tina decides its time to make home improvements, Dave volunteers to repaint the Butler home, violating Cedric's "man code" and setting off a chain of events that impacts both families. (I don't wanna take Cedric's side here but Dave is weirdly overly invested in helping out this one specific family anytime he can---and really its all because he totally craves Cedric's respect and approval--so really if Cedric just wanted him to back off he could just pay him a compliment or two. Of course there i go again applying real world logic to a broad tho perfectly adequate sitcom that would have been right at home in the 80s and 90s.)

The Voice (NBC): Blind Auditions Night 5!

9-1-1 (FOX): As the massive tsunami hitting the Santa Monica Pier passes, Buck fears the worst when Christopher goes missing while the rest of trauma response team must help out the survivors.

Dancing With the Stars (ABC): The remaining top 10 celeb and producer couples dance to a variety of hit and well known songs (Wait a minute that's the description every week, except the number differs!) Leah Remini guest judges. (Oh well that's different then!)

All American (THE CW): Season 2 of this critically well liked (but lower rated with CW viewers than expected) sports themed drama premieres tonight with "After winning the state championships, Spencer James faces a difficult decision that could transform his reputation. Billy realizes he needs to make some major changes to get his life back on track, and Grace and Corey have a tough conversation."  (I literally only ever saw the pilot episode which was ok but didn't really inspire me enough to keep up with it against its Wed night competition which included Chicago Fire, SEAL Team, and Modern Family at the time, but i've heard good things???)

Antiques Roadshow (PBS): This show returns tonight after something like a straight month of reruns with "a Matt Groening drawn piece of artwork (ooh!); A pair of Charles Loloma bracelets, and several of Evel Knievel's leathers." (For the record i originally typed that as Evel Knievel's Feathers which made me think about how maybe he performed all his flying stunts with the help of a magic feather that he believed could help him fly like a certain Disney elephant)

E! True Hollywood Story (E!) (Duh): NXIVM--Self Help Or Sex Cult??? (I'm leaning towards sex cult, but i mean the people in it swore it helped them feel more confident about themselves so who's to say what's self help and what's a sex cult really! Oh right-the judicial system says what's self help and what's a sex cult)

My Christmas Inn (Lifetime): In this made for Lifetime movie "A successful ad exec up for a high stakes promotion inherits a cozy inn in Alaska from her aunt" Starring Tia Mowery, Jackee Harry, and Tim Reid! (So its basically a "Sister, Sister" reunion movie minus one of the two sisters and Roger)

Autumn Dreams (Hallmark): Not to be outdone but Hallmark Channel of course has its usual movie of the night which is this one that's about "A couple being forced to reuinite to annul their marriage from years earlier" Starring Jill Wagner, Colin Egglesfield, and Daniel Bacon (whom i only included because i love the idea of there being 2 actors with the last name Bacon in the world)

Monday Night Football (ESPN): Because i feel like i should probably throw this in--The Cleveland Browns Vs The San Francisco 49ners play tonight.

8:30

Bob Hearts Abishola (CBS): Bob attempts to learn more about Nigerian customs in order to try and impress Abishola; Abishola meanwhile must contend with gossip spreading among her co-workers about her slowly growing relationship with Bob. (Very slowly going--they only had their first non-date during the last ten minutes of last week's episode, and it was them sipping coffee on a park bench outside the hospital!)

9:00

All Rise (CBS): Lola presides over her first trial concerning cybercrimes, after two friends fight over a deleted avatar; Mark discovers life without Lola in the office is going to be lonelier than he thought; and Like is set to be honored at the annual Valor Awards. (Valor Awards?!?!?!? That's totally not made made up at all, right????)

Prodigal Son (FOX): "A drug induced homicide forces Malcolm to rethink his fears; Gil, Jessica, and Ainsley catch wind that Malcolm has been in contact with his father again." (That Malcolm always being put in the middle of things at both work and at home--Life Is Unfaaaaaaairrrrrrr!!!!!!)

Black Lightning (THE CW): The 3rd season of this urban superhero show finds "Jefferson Pierce and his wife stuck in the hands of the ASA; as Agent Odell tightens his grip on the Pierce family, Anissa recently defies Odell in her alter ego costume as Blackbird with the tactical and technical support of Gambi" (Its kind of impressive that this got a 3rd season because while season 1 was tight, the 2nd season was a little all over the place, i mean it was still a good show, but it was a little loosely structured and at times played like improv jazz so i understood why the ratings kinda tailed off--but I do appreciate a CW superhero show that allows its main character to be filled melancholic and ambivalent at times about whether its even worth the effort to suit up as his alter ego)

Retro Report on PBS (PBS): This brand new PBS series is not as i would've thought the tv version of Retro News Now (tho i would've loved a tv version of that) but a weekly show examining cultural issues and how they might be inflecting change. Tonight's ep takes a look at "social media, athlete protests, Me Too on Wall Street, pet threats, and Andy Borowitz" (I'm not sure humor writer Andy Borowitz counts as a cultural issue, but why not examine him too???)

The Terror (AMC): "The Terminal islanders return home to find that things have changed since they left; The Nakayamas still tense from the pain they've inflicted upon on another, must all come together to battle the spirit that threatens their very future." (I should really try to catch up on this one as next week i believe is their season finale already)

The Deuce (HBO): "with his club shuttered, a distraught Vincent follows a lead down a dangerous path; Paul reaches out to Todd's parents; Candy battles harvey over her latest script; and Lori hits the feature dancing circuit with mixed results" (Shouldn't it be with sexy results???) (ALSO--LOOK I REMEMBER THIS SHOW'S EXISTENCE ONCE AGAIN!!!)

A Very Brady Renovation (HGTV): "Behind the Build: Scenes We Fern-ally Get To Show You" A look at unseen footage and memorable reveals for the front exterior (the heart of the home) and Alice's bedroom and bathroom. (We're only at episode 5 here and we're already getting a clipshow and outtakes episode??? That's Sooo Brady!)

American Pickers (History): In what may end up being a cobbled together clip show based on the description (I'm gonna need a ruling from Jasoo on that) "Freestyling on the road, Mike and Frank check off all their boxes in their flyer as they pick some real treausres." (Yep sounds like a general clip show to me)

Halloween Baking Championship (Food): The remaining six bakers try to create desserts that all pay tribute to The Addams Family just in time for their new movie (Why those brave American patriots can never get enough tributes for what they've contributed to American culture!!!!) (We're still talking about The Addams Family here right???) (Semper Fi Gomez, Semper Fi)

Drain the Oceans (Nat Geo): How Japan dominated the Pacific during World War 2 crushing the Allies. (Pacific Shockwave is the name of the episode)

9:30

Green Acres (MeTV): Oliver's shady opponent for the position of state district representative wins Lisa's support. (Well if you win Lisa's support, i guess the race is already over???)

10:00

BULL (CBS): Benny's previous career with the district attorney's office comes into focus when Chunk aims to get a brand new trial for a man he believes was wrongfully convicted of triple homicide by a prosecution team that had included Benny. (Wouldn't that literally be a conflict of interest tho??? I fully expect the show to bring that very issue up. Also I saw the actor who plays Chunk on The Today Show the other week alongside Linn Manuel Miranda--apparently they're colleagues and friends from way back--and that actor didn't mention Bull once during his appearance on Today which i realize is on another network, but who doesn't plug their show when given the opportunity?!?!?!?)

Bluff City Law (NBC): "The fate of an innocent man is in the hands of Elijah and Jake; Meanwhile Sydney and Anthony take a case brought to them by an old professor and it may be more than it initially appeared to be." (Bum bum bummm) (How is this show doing facing off against Bull??? Why would NBC put this directly against another legal show anyways???)

The Good Doctor (ABC): "Dr. Claire Brown faces complications at home and at work as she prepares to lead her first surgery; The staff must treat a fisherman's injuries without damaging his prime catch" (Yeah you wouldn't want the catch of the day to come with some additional fingers or toes or anything like that)

POV (PBS): "America" When a man and his brothers return to their hometown in Colima, Mexico to care for their ill grandmother, they clash over money, communications, and care giving. (They clash over communications????)

Lodge 49 (AMC): "In a foreign land, The Lynx searches for the Grail and Ernie embraces his fate, Janet pulls Liz into a scheme." (This one I also need to play catch up with as it also i think wraps up its 2nd season next week as well, i think???)

Our Boys (HBO): This Israeli miniseries that i've only covered here a couple of times during its ten week run wraps up tonight with "The trial reaches its conclusion and Simon finds his good work has come with a steep price" (that's not ominous at all)

American Pickers (History): In what has to be a new episode for sure (right????) "Dani and Mike combine for star power picking and find some rare Beatles and Evel Knievel memorabilia"

COPS (Paramount): A trespassing suspect asks a lot of questions instead of answering them; depities uncover a heap of contraband during a traffic stop, exes do their best to tolerate each other for a few more hours until one leaves for rehab" (COPS IS FILMED IN FRONT OF A LIVE STUDIO AUDIENCE!!!!!)

Halloween Cake Off (Food): (Ok now you're just making up shows here Food Channel) "Challenging bakers to create cakes that look like they've become infested and decayed." (Infested with what? Spiders? Crickets? Ghosts? Can a cake be filled with paranormal activity???) ("You know i rather like the filling of this cake, its quite unusual--why what ever is this flavor???" "Its paranormal activity flavored!")

Home Sweet Hell (Travel): And lastly we have the series premiere of yet another show on the Travel Channel investigating paranormal activity. (Do they even have any other kinds of shows on here anymore?!?!?!?) "A desperate mother uncovers a shocking secret about her family's new home after she discovers the nursery is haunted"  ("Haunted Nursery" Coming This Fall To Fox!!!)

THAT'S ALL SHE WROTE FOR TONIGHT! HAVE A GREAT START OF THE WEEK EVERYBODY!!!!
