SNL Live Thread 10/12/19: David Harbour/Camila Cabello

Sheriff Hopper of "Stranger Things" gets his turn up at bat hosting the show tonight for the very first time. The so far enduring popularity of Stranger Things makes sense that one of the various cast members would be asked to host the show, tho it surprises me that it took a full three seasons of it for this to happen. While part of me is glad they didn't ask any of the kids to host it, (would you really wanna see that teen who's in all those Fios ads hosting???)  Do you really think that Mr. Harbour was their first choice? (Like you think they asked Winona Ryder before they asked Harbour?) I only ask this because going thru Harbour's pre Stranger Things list of credits, there's a lot of  things--but would they be things people would remember? He was a cast member of short lived legal drama Rake--remember Rake? it starred Greg Kinnear!!!! He was also apparently a cast member on Pan Am, Manhattan, The Newsroom, and State of Affairs. (which was a short lived drama that starred Katherine Heigl) His very first screen credit looks to be an episode of Special Victims Unit from 2002!

In terms of movies he was in Kinsey, Brokeback Mountain, Quantum of Solace, Revolutionary Road, The Green Hornet, W. E. (that was that movie that Madonna had directed), End of Watch, Snitch, The Equalizer, and Black Mass, (and of course Suicide Squad) Oh right I had almost forgotten that he had starred a couple of months ago in the attempted reboot of Hellboy as well. That's actually a pretty strong list of movies although I'd be hard pressed to say i remember him specifically being in any of them (outside of Suicide Squad i guess)  Anyways here's hoping the sheriff can bring the magic. Keenan Thompson on Seth Meyers said that the good sheriff was a wonderful man and a lovely person earlier in the week...and if you can make Keenan Thompson sing your praises then you're probably doing something right!

Musical guest is the young Cuban born singer whose one song that i kinda/sorta know ("He took me back to East Havana na na na") was all over tv earlier in the year appearing in various commercials and tv shows and the like--i can think of at least three separate ad campaigns it was a part of! (I love that i'm now officially that person who only knows young people's music via commercials! Radio? Feh, Commercials are where its at!)

Hopefully they'll be some funny stuff tonight, but even if there's not, at least we're all together???

Sadly there does not appear to be a retro rerun on tonight due to College Football...but we can make up our own retro rerun! (Look its David S. Pumpkins! And He's Doin' Stuff!) (Annyyyyy Quessstions??? Yes...Several)
