What's On Tonight (Sunday): The Emmys, the TV program that can't win an Emmy

May I have the envelope, please? Oops... You're here for something else. Tonight is that annual award fest where television honors itself (and plenty of great programs don't get invited). Unlike the Oscars, however, TV does not rest tonight, which is also the last day of the 2018-19 season (RIP). PBS returns with some country tunes, Showtime returns to politics, the Good Eats revival wraps its season, and other regularly scheduled TV shows carry on. So survey says here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, September 22!

EARLY PRIMETIME

60 Minutes (CBS, 7:30 p.m.): Because of sportsballs, CBS will be running (at least) a half hour late on programming tonight.

Doctor Who πŸ“Ί (Retro TV, 7 p.m.): The Doctor (Peter Davison) attempts to stop the fuel from a plague spaceship called Terminus from exploding and causing the destruction of the universe. It is also the last call for the companion Nyssa.

E! Live from the Red Carpet (E!, 6 p.m.) / Fox's Live Emmy Red Carpet Arrivals (Fox, 7 p.m.): Check out what all the stars are wearing and as the interviewers get into awkward conversations with them. There is sportsballs on Fox prior to the red carpet, so delays could occur.

FOR THE RECORD60 Minutes (CBS, 7:30 p.m.); Dwight in Shining Armor (BYUtv, 7:30 p.m., premiere) Hetty Feather (BYUtv, 7 p.m., premiere); Killer Motive (Oxygen, 7 p.m.); Nick Cannon Presents: Wild 'n Out (VH1, 7 p.m.); Snapped (Oxygen, 6 p.m.)

πŸ•— EASTERN / πŸ•– CENTRAL

⭐ 71st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards (Fox, 8 p.m.): The 71st! But don't worry, you don't need to know the events and honors of the previous 70 to watch. However, the more history you know, the less enthusiastic you'll probably be for it. The live-thread goes up around 6 p.m. when the red carpet specials begin.
