It's Labor Day in the US. Most of the world celebrates on May 1st but here in the US we like to pretend that the Haymarket Riot never happened. We don't teach it and we certainly don't celebrate it. Wikipedia even refers to it as the Haymarket affair (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haymarket_affair) as if we were all just cheating on our spouse and not fighting for an eight hour work day, bloodshed not optional.
We have a token Labor Fest in Milwaukee. Most of us use the day as an excuse to have cookouts and drink beer. Sports are often involved. Sometimes we participate. More often we watch on television. Around here Labor Day means a little baseball and a lot of tennis. And puppies.
