- Gabe, a researcher from Washington, D.C., knows a thing or two about Dr. Seuss;
- Christine, an associate producer from Washington, D.C., works in non-fiction TV and likes James Garfield; and
- Jason, a math teacher from New Mexico, is having "pet-it fours" at his wedding. Jason is a 19-day champ with winnings of $532,496.
Jason found no DDs was uncharacteristically quiet for a long stretch of DJ, coming up short of a runaway at $21,000 vs. $11,200 for Gabe and $9,000 for Christine.
DD1, $800 - STATE OF THE STATE FOREST - Mississippi Headwaters State Forest (Gabe won $1,600 on a true DD.)
DD2, $1,200 - ANIMAL ANATOMY - The omasum & the abomasum are 2 of the 4 stomach chambers of the suborder that includes camels and giraffes (Christine lost $2,000 from her score of $5,800 vs. $13,000 for Jason. Even though she missed, an all-in wager was clearly called for in this spot.)
DD3, $1,600 - FINNISH LINES - Named for 2 1950s Presidents, the Paasikivi-Kekkonen Line meant not doing anything to annoy this country (Gabe won $4,000 from his total of $5,200 vs. $13,000 for Jason. Gabe is very fortunate that not betting that additional $1,200 didn't allow Jason to put the game out of reach.)
FJ - WORLD LANDMARKS - "The Eighth Wonder", composed by Alan John & librettist Dennis Watkins, is about this building that opened in 1973
Very surprisingly, only Gabe was correct on FJ, doubling up to $22,400 and ending Jason's 19-game winning streak.
Jason departs in third place in all-time regular game money won and tied for fourth in regular games won. However, he won't be in the upcoming Tournament of Champions as the field has already been set, so it might be a while before we see Jason again.
Correct Qs:
DD1 - What is Minnesota?
DD2 - Who are ruminants?
DD3 - What is the Soviet Union?
FJ - What is the Sydney Opera House?
