Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Sept. 23

Here are today's contestants:

- Trey, a director of technology from Texas, proposed on the Disneyland Jungle Cruise;
- Jacky, a university administrator from Massachusetts, explored all night in Paris; and
- Jason, a math teacher from New Mexico, sees some benefits from being alphabetically last. Jason is a 16-day champ with winnings of $437,096.

Jason had a lead of just over $10,000 after round one and was never challenged, cruising into FJ with $31,200 vs. $5,600 for Jacky and $200 for Trey.

DD1, $1,000 - CLOCKS - Athens' ancient Tower of the Winds measured time with a water clock when these weren't working -- say at night (Jason won $2,800 from his leading score of $5,800.)

DD2, $1,600 - GEOGRAPHY - 2 of the last 3 state capitals alphabetically; they all begin with "T" (Jason won $5,000 from his total of $15,400.)

DD3, $800 - BOATS & SHIPS - In 1851 this schooner was the Hundred Guinea Cup, the prize for a yacht race around the Isle of Wight (Trey bet the window maximum of $2,000 and missed, falling into the red.)

FJ - MUSICAL THEATRE INSPIRATIONS - The title of this musical that opened on Broadway in 1964 wa inspired by a Marc Chagall painting

Only Jason was correct on FJ, adding $3,800 to win with $35,000 for a 17-day total of $472,096.

That's before our time: Depressingly, no one knew the 1967 no. 1 album with "Getting Better" and "Within You Without You" is "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".

This day in Trebekistan: Alex opened the show by telling us that Jason is now third all-time in money won in regular games behind Ken and James, and later did his impression of a marriage proposal on a roller coaster.

Correct Qs:
DD1 - What is a sundial?
DD2 - What are Trenton and Tallahassee? (The other one is Topeka.)
DD3 - What is the America?
FJ - What is "Fiddler on the Roof"?
