What's On Tonight (Friday): Revisit a Time of Television Enthusiasts...

SCTV: The Greatest Show You've Never Heard Of

Today's Top Pick is the documentary SCTV: The Greatest Show You've Never Heard Of .  The documentary can be found on Netflix, which also recently started streaming the entire series.  I assume the only people who never heard of SCTV are either in a much older or much younger demo than I fall into.  I didn't watch the series when it first ran but I knew of it.

⭐🎥 SCTV: The Greatest Show You've Never Heard Of (Netflix, 3:01 AM) 'Chronicles the rise, fall, and enduring legacy of one of the most influential sketch comedy series in television history. Through intimate interviews with surviving members of its legendary cast and an emotional reunion in Toronto, the film explores the creative partnership that transformed a small Canadian television production into a cultural phenomenon that launched some of comedy's most celebrated icons.'

Too much death. Go figure. Of all things I've got baseball to give me hope. One of our best friends and new widower is over. I need to respond to another friend whose dead brother was a best friend. The live brother asked me last year about a friend to write about for World AIDS Day. This year he wants to know about one of my best best friends. I don't know if I can do it. Jay deserves so much more than I can offer. He lived a larger life than I. There are very few people that can claim that. Thank God for baseball.

Jay happened to be the original Columbia at the Oriental Theater in Milwaukee. Bright, colorful, full of life, and bound to be disappointed.

Feed Me: Wild Foods

That's wild asparagus in Nebraska, and today is largely a tribute to Euell Gibbons' outdoor guide and cookbook, Stalking the Wild Asparagus.

October and November are foraging season for nuts, late-season fruits, roots, and cool-weather mushrooms.

Let's break that down.

Nuts: acorns, chestnuts, and black walnuts

Fruits: persimmon, rose hips, Hawthorn berries, and apples

Roots/Tubers: burdock and carrots

Mushrooms: Maitake, Winter Oyster, Lion's Mane, and King Boletes

What's On Tonight (Wednesday): Did they just become best friends? Yep.

Brothers

Booyakasha! Here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, October 28!

Our Top Pick tonight is the penultimate episode of Brothers (Apple TV, midnight). This comedy reunited detective actors Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey as fictional versions of themselves who learn they might be brothers. I think the plot sounds dumb.

Elsewhere, Ali G gets a movie, da Baby's mama wants more, the FBI goes into the Fire, our size and shape is of Evolution, Abbott gets into spooky season, South Park has some beef, and Jost and Che have a final answer.
