What's On Tonight (Thursday): Then where you come from!

Tonight's Top Pick is the series premiere of the continuation to what ended up being one of my favorite Thoughts On experiences, A Different World. I don't have Netflix, where the show premieres at 3 a.m., but I think I might have to do a little exploring to catch this. And now I really want a burger from The Pitt.

While I continue to lament when ADW's main set changed in 1991 from Gilbert Hall, which looked like a genuine dorm, to Height Hall, which looked like the lobby of a spa, let's see what else TV has to offer us for Thursday, Sept. 24. All times are Eastern.


STREAMING (Paramount+ has the streaming premiere of Jackass: Best and Last.)
A Different World, 3:01 a.m., Netflix. Series premiere. "A freshman and her ride-or-die crew juggle school, romantic drama and family legacy at a historically Black college." Ten episodes available.

The Real Rooneys, 3:01 a.m., Disney+ and Hulu. Series premiere. "Coleen and Wayne Rooney have invited cameras into their home for a pivotal year in their lives. It's all change as Wayne steps away from football management, swapping the touchline for school runs, while Coleen embraces the biggest opportunities of her career, including designing her own Primark range. With unprecedented access, we follow the family through the highs and lows of married life, raising four lively boys, and supporting eldest son Kai as he pursues his own footballing dream." Eight episodes available, followed by two on Thursday, Oct. 1.

Team Moms: Baseball, 3:01 a.m., Paramount+. Series premiere. "Follow a group of parents whose sons attend Legendary Prep Academy: a premier baseball training school in Scottsdale, Arizona, dedicated to molding the next generation of star athletes. While the kids compete on the field, the drama unfolds in the stands, where the parents are their children's biggest champions and each other's fiercest critics. Friendships are tested, and rivalries emerge; proving that baseball is more than a game, it's a lifestyle." Eight episodes available.

Showtrial, 3:01 a.m., Britbox. Second season premiere. "Officer X" and "The Gambler." "When a climate activist is left for dead after a hit-and-run, he uses his dying words to name his killer, a police officer. With the country divided, the question arises whether defence solicitor Sam Malik will take on the trial of the decade." Later, "As Southgate builds his case against Justin, attention turns to the D4 police chat group. With phones wiped and Justin's fellow officers saying nothing, D4 could hold the key evidence. Meanwhile, unable to sleep, Sam embarrasses himself at work." Two episodes available, followed by one per week through Thursday, Oct. 15.

Cooper and Fry, 3:01 a.m., Britbox. "Black Dog, Part II." "After the body of local photographer Jenny Westlake is found dead lying among the stones at the popular tourist spot, The Nine Virgins, Cooper and Fry are called in to investigate."

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, 3:01 a.m., Paramount+. Fourth season finale. "Tomorrow's Enterprise." "A temporal crisis brings Pike's Enterprise face to face with the future Kirk will one day inherit."

Today, 7 a.m., NBC. Segments include "Fourth Trimester Care," a peek at the Paley Center's exhibit on NBC's centennial, quokkas in Australia, shopping for fall items, and "Today Food Loves Football." Later, all about macros, a look at bee veterinarians, ex-Yankee CC Sabathia, Ziggy Marley (the Dreaming the Same Dream Tour with Gov't Mule), and more of the kickoff to fall. Finally, Justin Sylvester co-hosts an hour with Sienna Miller and Dominic West (War), Rob Gronkowski, Ashley Park (Emily in Paris), and more Today Food.
