Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Jun. 29

 Here are today's contestants:

- Sarah Streicher, a writer from Altadena, California;

- Jeff Price, a math teacher from Barrington, Illinois; and

- Adam Remsen, an attorney and theater producer from Memphis, Tennessee. Adam is an 11-day champ with winnings of $278,806.

Jeopardy!

YOU HAVE A HECKUVA ALTITUDE // TV // THE AUTHOR'S CHARACTERS // EXPANSION PACK // "DIS" INFORMATION // HAPPY 85th ANNIVERSARY TO THE USO

DD1 - $400 - THE AUTHOR'S CHARACTERS - We pay tribute to Effie Trinket & Foxface (Sarah added $1,000.)

Scores at first break: Adam $4,600, Jeff $1,800, Sarah $4,200.

Scores entering DJ: Adam $5,200, Jeff $2,600, Sarah $4,600.

Double Jeopardy!

THE WINDSOR OF OUR DISCONTENT // COMPOUND WORDS // BODY BASICS // COLLEGE TOWNS // A THING OF BEAUTY // A JOY FOREVER

DD2 - $2,000 - A THING OF BEAUTY - Katharine Lee Bates' line about "purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain" was inspired by a trip to the top of this mountain (Adam improved his leading score by $5,000 to $17,400.)

DD3 - $1,200 - THE WINDSOR OF OUR DISCONTENT - This portmanteau word is used to describe the departure of Prince Harry & his wife from affairs British (With $26,600 and the game well in hand, Adam bet just $5 and was incorrect.)

Adam increased his lead on DD2, then ran a category and was not challenged from there, holding first into FJ at $27,395 vs. $8,600 for Sarah and $3,400 for Jeff.

Final Jeopardy!

7-LETTER WORDS - This word for a specific type of knight is derived from the site upon which Rome was said to have been founded

Adam and Jeff were correct on FJ. Adam added just $214 to win with $27,609 for a 12-day total of $306,415.

Final scores: Adam $27,395, Jeff $5,000, Sarah $7,600.

Clue selection strategy: After finding DD2, Adam made two more selections from that same category and chose two top-row clues with DD3 still on the board.

Wagering strategy: Adam had a big margin going into FJ, so it was surprising that he bet so little, given the very standard nature of the FJ category.

Correct Qs: DD1 - What is Collins? DD2 - What is Pikes Peak? DD3 - What is Megxit? FJ - What is a paladin?
