Alysssa Liu was happy with her Olympic Gold and stayed home from the Worlds but Ilia Malinin was out for redemption. He dominated the short program and executed a flawless free skate. He hit all of the elements including seven quads and a backflip. The difficulty on this program was so high that all he needed to do was not make mistakes. In contrast to Liu in Milan who made everything look easy and joyful, here Malinin showed the effort. I think that was intentional. What he does is not easy and he only gets the joy when he get it right. [Yahoo]
The final four is worth getting excited about this year. And Duke is not there. [NBC]
