What's On Tonight (Sunday): Critical condition

Critics Choice Awards

Boom! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, January 4!

Our Top Pick tonight is the 31st Critics Choice Awards (E! & USA, 7 p.m.). This year's ceremony is once again hosted by Chelsea Handler and remains tied to legacy TV, not streaming. The 3-hour show will present awards across both television and film. While there are more than 40 categories, not all of them will be presented for the televised show. I'm pretty mixed on the CCA itself, but I firmly believe professional art criticism is fundamentally important to a living and relevant culture. I'll die on that hill.

Elsewhere, Josh Charles has the Best MedicineWhen Calls the Heart still exists, Landman helps dad, Krapopolis concludes a season, the search for new Worst Cooks begins, The Simpsons airs late, and Eva Longoria has an IOU.

(All times are Eastern. All listings are new unless otherwise stated. For more listings, visit The Futon Critic or Gracenote.)
