Here are today's Champions Wildcard contestants:
- Harvey Silikovitz, an attorney and worldwide karaoke singer originally from West Orange, New Jersey;
- Ian Morrison, an airline ramp agent originally from Aurora, Colorado; and
- Stella Trout, a software engineer originally from Houston, Texas.
Jeopardy!
WILD, CARDS! // CLASSICAL MUSIC // WE'RE BEEFING // IN THE MOVIE'S TITLE // IT'S GOOD TO "B" IN THE CITY // WORD ORIGIN LANGUAGES
DD1 - 400 - CLASSICAL MUSIC - United Airlines began using this Gershwin piece in its ads in the 1980s (Harvey doubled to 8,000.)
Scores at first break: Stella 4,200, Ian 1,200, Harvey 8,000.
Scores entering DJ: Stella 5,000, Ian 4,200, Harvey 8,800.
Double Jeopardy!
2020s VISION // SOME SCIENCE // FAMILY TV // BILLS OF RIGHTS // 3-NAMED AUTHORS // I'M "CC"ING YOU
DD2 - 1,200 - SOME SCIENCE - God bless this radioactive element discovered in 1944 by a group of U.S. scientists when they bombarded plutonium with neutrons (From second place, Stella dropped 6,600 on a true DD.)
DD3 - 1,200 - 2020s VISION - It's the somewhat self-deprecating title of the bestselling 2023 memoir by Prince Harry (Harvey lost 5,000 down to 7,000.)
Harvey opened an early lead by doubling on DD1, then Stella dropped to 0 on DD2, but came back impressively to lead into FJ at 14,000 vs. 10,600 for Ian and 9,800 for Harvey.
Final Jeopardy!
ENGLISH PLACE NAMES - Once called Grontabricc, it's named for a structure spanning a tributary of the great Ouse river
Stella and Harvey were correct on FJ, so Harvey's miss on DD3 wound up deciding the outcome. Stella added 5,601 to advance with 19,601.
Final scores: Stella 19,601, Ian 1,599, Harvey 19,600.
Judging the writers: Can't think of a better example of them using more words when fewer would work just fine than a category called SOME SCIENCE instead of just SCIENCE.
Ken's Korner: For some reason Ken denied it after Stella called him out for "setting her up" to try for a true Daily Double. Ken, you're a game show host trying to make it exciting, just own it.
Correct Qs: DD1 - What is "Rhapsody In Blue"? DD2 - What is americium? DD3 - What is "Spare"? FJ - What is Cambridge?
