The SNAP and Medicaid crisis that we barely got through during the government shutdown is about to get very much worse. A combination of bad state policies and bad federal policy has set up a perfect storm for the elimination of food stamps and health care in states that have cut taxes to the bone. The forthcoming cuts in federal funding have to be replaced somehow and red states are going to be hit hardest. [ProPublica]
