Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Nov. 5

 Here are today's contestants:

- Allegra Kuney, a Ph.D. candidate from New Brunswick, New Jersey;

- Sofia Meisburger, a proposal writer from Washington, DC; and

- Joseph Evans, a middle school history teacher from Beltsville, Maryland. Joseph is a one-day champ with winnings of $15,529.

Jeopardy!

COUNTRIES ENDING IN "N" // PRODUCT PLACEMENT // CELEBRITY SIBLINGS // ALSO AN NBA TEAM NICKNAME // DOUBLE TALK // HISTORIC DAYS OF OUR LIVES

DD1 - $800 - ALSO AN NBA TEAM NICKNAME - Vociferously peddles goods, perhaps outside an arena (Allegra moved to the lead, improving by $2,500 to $5,300.)

Scores at first break: Joseph $4,800, Sofia $1,000, Allegra $2,800.

Scores entering DJ: Joseph $5,200, Sofia $2,000, Allegra $6,700.

Double Jeopardy!

BOOKS & AUTHORS // ATLAS OBSCURA // IN THE DICTIONARY // CHILD'S POSE // MEDSPEAK // MOVIE TITLE CHANGE A LETTER

DD2 - $2,000 - MEDSPEAK - Mainly affecting the face, the name of this inflammatory skin disorder refers to the redness & flushing that it causes (Allegra added $2,000 to her score of $25,500 vs. $8,400 for Joseph.)

DD3 - $800 - CHILD'S POSE - This American captured the spirit of 6-year-old Ruby Bridges walking to school while guarded by marshals (With a large lead late in the game, Allegra dropped by $2,100 down to $25,800.)

Allegra found all three DDs took over with authority in DJ, entering FJ with a solid runaway at $25,800 vs. $9,600 for Joseph and $3,600 for Sofia.

Final Jeopardy!

11th CENTURY EUROPE - Within one year of its consecration, this building hosted a royal funeral & 1 or 2 coronations

Everyone was correct on FJ. Allegra added $800 to win with $26,600.

Final scores: Joseph $10,406, Sofia $7,199, Allegra $26,600.

Triple Stumper of the day: For a top-row clue in a category about medical terms, no one knew CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Clue selection strategy: In DJ, with both DDs still remaining and only one higher-value clue left, Sofia chose a second-row clue, after which Allegra regained control and immediately found DD2 with the lone $2,000 clue. Later, with DD3 still on the board, Sofia chose twice from the top row, again leaving the remaining DD to be chosen by Allegra.

Judging the producers: Between a category literally called PRODUCT PLACEMENT and another guest-presented category, I skipped today's first round.

Correct Qs: DD1 - What is hawks? DD2 - What is rosacea? DD3 - Who was Rockwell? FJ - What is Westminster Abbey?
