beware of Harlan Crow

Is it a day ending in day? Chicago is still under occupation. A judge ruled that a man whose daughter is fighting cancer is being held illegally by ICE. [CNN] [Associated Press]

Things run a little bit different in Florida but not all that much. The big mistake was putting Florida Man in charge. On the bright side we learned the name of one ICE officer who shouldn't be an officer of any kind. Scott Deiseroth was pulled over for being very, very intoxicated. Costly mistake number one. Very costly mistake number two was repeatedly asking the white officer if his partner was Haitian, referring to him as "boy" and threatening to look up the officer "when I get back". Biggest mistake? Driving drunk with his kids in the car. [Washington Post gift link]

Next stop Texas where we are not talking ICE but could be. The Alamo Trust CEO is resigning because she has the audacity to tell the truth about the Alamo. This shouldn't be news to anyone. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick "suggested" to the board that she either resign or be fired. The spark that lit this particular censorious fire is a paper that she wrote two years ago for a USC doctorate in Global Education. Remind me what Education degrees Dan Patrick has. None? He's got a BA in English but you might as well call that "Communications" since he only used that for broadcasting. He didn't even grow up in Texas. He's hardly an expert on the Alamo. [Fortune]
