- Cynthia Appiah, an Olympic bobsledder from Toronto, Ontario; and

- Aaron Levine, a sports anchor from Seattle, Washington. Aaron is a one-day champ with winnings of $20,600.

Jeopardy!

AMERICAN HISTORY // LOCKS & KEYS // THE NAME BEHIND THE MIDDLE INITIAL // A NOVEL SETTING // DEATH? NO, THANK YOU! (MOVIE EDITION) // LET'S SPEAK CANADIAN

DD1 - $600 - AMERICAN HISTORY - He made his fortune selling gear to miners in California, expanded it with railroads & founded a university (Aaron doubled to $3,600.)

Scores at first break: Aaron $5,800, Cynthia $0, Alan $3,000.

Scores entering DJ: Aaron $8,400, Cynthia $1,200, Alan $7,800.

Double Jeopardy!

SEAS THE DAY // PUBLISHING PROS // SIGNIFICANT MOTHERS // GEOLOGY // POP GOES THE MUSIC // "AP" EXAM

DD2 - $2,000 - SIGNIFICANT MOTHERS - Catherine of Aragon was the youngest daughter of this royal mom (Aaron lost $6,000 from his first place score of $14,800 vs. $5,800 for Alan.)

DD3 - $1,600 - PUBLISHING PROS - In an unpredictable move, this publisher merged with Penguin in 2013 (Aaron improved by $4,000 to $12,800.)

Aaron found all three DDs with the lead, lost $6,000 on DD2 but quickly got $4,000 of it back on DD3 to retain first place into FJ at $15,200 vs. $11,000 for Alan and $2,400 for Cynthia.

Final Jeopardy!

BRAND NAMES - This brand got its name in 1940 after a distillery executive took friends on a hunting trip

Everyone was incorrect on FJ, as Alan made a logical guess that didn't happen to be right. Aaron dropped $6,801 to win with $8,399 for a two-day total of $28,999.

Final scores: Aaron $8,399, Cynthia $100, Alan $7,000.

Wagering strategy: For the second straight game, the player in second going into FJ was within two-thirds of the leader's score while comfortably ahead of third, made an overbet and was incorrect. However, this time it wound up costing the second place player the game when the leader also missed.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one could decipher a clue about the modern style of hotel key that was developed for improved safety, the card key.

Correct Qs: DD1 - What is Stanford? DD2 - Who was Queen Isabella? DD3 - What is Random House? FJ - What is Wild Turkey? (Alan wrote Jägermeister).
