Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Oct. 27

 Here are today's contestants:

- Morgan Walker, a marketing director from Glenwood Springs, Colorado;

- Aaron Levine, a sports anchor from Seattle, Washington; and

- Shaan Mishra, a management consultant from Carmel, Indiana. Shaan is a one-day champ with winnings of $15,600.

Jeopardy!

RAINFOREST, MEET DESERT // IT'S YOUR DAY! // DUELING ANNE HATHAWAYS // PASTIMES // "C" PLUS // FINAL RESTING PLACES

DD1 - $800 - FINAL RESTING PLACES - Levallois-Perret Cemetery is where this civil engineer known as the "Magician of Iron" came to rest after his 1923 death (Aaron doubled to $2,000.)

Scores at first break: Shaan $1,800, Aaron $4,400, Morgan $2,000.

Scores entering DJ: Shaan $4,000, Aaron $7,200, Morgan $2,200.

Double Jeopardy!

THE LATE '60s // A BIT O' LIT // CZECH YOURSELF // TIGERS EVERYWHERE // THE SONG'S PERSONNEL // NEWISH WORDS & PHRASES

DD2 - $1,600 - A BIT O' LIT - A group of 10 young people head to a country villa to escape the plague afflicting Florence in this 14th century work (Aaron improved his first place score by $5,000 to $14,200.)

DD3 - $1,600 - CZECH YOURSELF - If you're gonna defenestrate, do it in Prague, site of them in 1419, 1483 & 1618, the proximate cause of this conflict (Shaan dropped by $4,000 down to $2,000.)

Aaron found DD2 early in DJ to extend his lead, didn't do much in the rest of the round but still held first into FJ at $14,600. Morgan took the last $400 clue and improved to $10,200, over double of Shaan in third at $4,800.

Final Jeopardy!

ON THE MAP - An official American viticultural area spanning multiple states includes this eastern island where you’ll find the town of Chilmark

Aaron and Shaan were correct on FJ. Aaron added $6,000 to win with $20,600.

Final scores: Shaan $8,800, Aaron $20,600, Morgan $2.

Wagering strategy: Going into FJ, Morgan was within two-thirds of Aaron's score and narrowly had more than twice of Shaan's total. In this situation, the percentage play from second is to go with a tiny bet to shut out third, then hope for first to make a cover wager and miss. If Morgan had done this, she would have gotten second money and would have won if Aaron missed.

That's before their time: No one knew the long-time sponsor of TV's "Wild Kingdom", Mutual of Omaha.

Overpriced clue of the day: $1,200 for identifying a photo of Mick Jagger.

Correct Qs: DD1 - Who was Eiffel? DD2 - What is "The Decameron"? DD3 - What is 30 Years' War? FJ - What is Martha's Vineyard?
