Our Top Pick tonight is Shakespeare: Rise of a Genius (Ovation, 8 & 9:30 & 11 p.m.). This 3-part BBC docudrama recounts the life of William Shakespeare. In between reenactments of major life events are a variety of talking heads that are scholars and performers. Recognizable ones include Helen Mirren, Brian Cox, Judi Dench, Martin Freeman, and Adrian Lester. No Shakespeare Truthers here. As soon as I saw Jesse Buckley was one of the commentators, I thought "I'm in!"
Elsewhere, the Dead throw a surprise party, 60 Minutes turns 58, Home Videos and The Simpsons turns 37, democracy comes to Krapopolis, Billy the Kid is still a thing, Shoulder Pads consider kidnapping, Chickens are stronger together, Basic Guys play hockey, and Big Brother concludes another season.

Malory Towers (BYU TV, 7 & 7:30 p.m.): The girls try to cheer up Celeste, who wants to get expelled so she can go home to see her mother. Meanwhile, Mary-Lou finds herself facing a snail invasion when she takes an art class. Later, Irene offers to help Ron with his band, who are playing that afternoon, and Felicity and June find clues to the missing time capsule.
