Jeopardy! recap for Tue., Jun. 17

 Here are today's contestants:

- Stefany Meyer, a data analyst from Burke, Virginia;

- Dan Hopkins, a teacher from Hanover, New Hampshire; and

- Sarah Cox, a chief of staff from Austin, Texas. Sarah is a one-day champ with winnings of $15,050.

Jeopardy!

FLASH MOB LOGBOOK // WORLD HISTORY // 2-WORD RESPONSES // IN THE JUNK DRAWER // "CON"s // STEPHEN KING

DD1 - $1,000 - 2-WORD RESPONSES - Pregnant ladies know this other term for vitamin B9 (Sarah added $1,000.)

Scores at first break: Sarah $6,200, Dan $1,400, Stefany $1,800.

Scores entering DJ: Sarah $7,600, Dan $3,400, Stefany $1,400.

Double Jeopardy!

HEROES NEED HELP // SCIENCE // THAT IS SAD // OLD TO THE OED // SOME FREE ADVICE // YOU CAN'T A FJORD IT

DD2 - $2,000 - OLD TO THE OED - In the olden days, this "d" word just meant a discourse or dissertation; now it means more of an angry rant (Dan moved into first by adding $2,000 to his score of $7,400 vs. $7,600 for Sarah.)

DD3 - $1,200 - YOU CAN'T A FJORD IT - The Ilulissat Icefjord in Greenland is thought to be the birthplace of this object that tragically entered history in 1912 (Dan improved his leading total by $3,000 to $12,400.)

Dan scored on both DDs in DJ, which carried him to the lead in FJ at $16,000 vs. $10,600 for Stefany and $8,000 for Sarah.

Final Jeopardy!

THE 1960s - Following the Baptist Church bombing in 1963, MLK telegrammed him that the blood of 4 girls "is on your hands"

Disappointingly, everyone was incorrect on FJ. Dan lost $5,201 to win with $10,799.

Final scores: Sarah $1,000, Dan $10,799, Stefany $8,600.

Wagering strategy: From second place in FJ, Stefany declined to make a bet large enough to cover twice of Sarah's score. The impact of this was it forced Stefany to be correct on FJ while both opponents missed to have a chance to win. If she had made the cover bet, Stefany could have won if correct and Dan missed, without also needing Sarah to be incorrect.

Triple Stumper of the day: Back when people used to watch regular TV, it was hard to escape the ad claiming the sugarless gum recommended by four out of five dentists is Trident.

Correct Qs: DD1 - What is folic acid? DD2 - What is diatribe? DD3 - What is the Titanic iceberg? FJ - Who was George Wallace?
