Politics Corner February 6

Walk like an Egyptian. Egypt has made it very clear that it will not put up with Trump and Netanyahu's ethnic cleansing. If they move forward with the removal of Palestinians from Gaza it will put the Camp David Accords in jeopardy. That has provided one of the few measures of stability in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia has said that the purge of Gaza will result in the impossibility of normalized relations with Israel. Those two nations along with Jordan, Qatar and United Arab Emirates all condemn the move. Egypt is demanding a two-state solution with Palestinians in control of Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Netanyahu flatly states that there will be no two-state solution and that Israel will continue to occupy Gaza and the West Bank and that all of Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. [Associated Press]

How many refugees do you think Dearborn, MI is capable of accepting and how long would it take ICE to send all of them to El Salvador?

And now for some good, bad news. I have to go a long way back for this one. It's also an illustration of why birthright citizenship is necessary and a reminder that the racism that drives much of this administration is nothing new and is our deepest shame. There is a reason why the federal government no longer honors Black History Month. Never forget.  [Smithsonian]

Marco Rubio lied to the face of diplomats serving under him. He claimed without justification that US foreign aid would restart once we determine what is in the interest of the US. It is no longer possible to determine what aid is in the US interest since everyone who was qualified to determine that has been fired and President Musk's little boys are incapable of anything but destruction.
