What's On Tonight (Thursday): Let there be Light

Tonight's Top Pick is the 12th season premiere of The Great Christmas Light Fight. I don't watch the show, but maybe I should. That's an impressive display.


While I prepare my own Christmas decorations, let's see what else TV has to offer us for Thursday, Dec. 5. All times are EST.

Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story, 12:01 a.m., Amazon. Series premiere. "(This documentary) penetrates the neon-hued world of Lisa Frank Inc., a brand that defined girlhood for a generation of Americans only to seemingly disappear overnight. Behind the rainbows and psychedelic illustrations, we unravel a nostalgia-soaked, stranger-than-fiction tale that takes us into the hidden world that has been lurking at the heart of the company for decades." Wild Crime: Eleven Skulls, 12:01 a.m., Hulu. Series premiere. "Delves into the haunting 2012 disappearance of Samantha Koenig, an 18-year-old Anchorage barista last seen leaving her place of work with an unknown man on a dark winter night. The search for Koenig leads FBI and police from Alaska's wilderness to the remote forests of Washington's Olympic National Park, all the way to rural Vermont, exposing a killer's terrifying trail of crimes." Black Doves, 3:01 a.m., Netflix. Series premiere. "A spy leading a double life faces exposure when her lover is murdered." Starring Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw, Sarah Lancashire, and Tracey Ullman. Six episodes available.

Creature Commandos, 3:01 a.m., Max. Series premiere. "A secret team of incarcerated monsters (are) recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans. When all else fails, they're your last, worst option." Animated. Two episodes available, followed by one per week through Thursday, Jan. 9.

White Lies, 3:01 a.m., Sundance Now. Series premiere. "Set in the wealthy neighborhood of Bishopscourt in Cape Town, South Africa, investigative journalist Edie Hansen (Natalie Dormer) gets caught up in the ugly underbelly that lies beneath the picturesque beauty of the city, dragging her back to her turbulent past. Following her estranged brother's murder in his luxury home, Edie's world plunges deeper into chaos when her brother's teenage children become prime suspects for the crime. The Day of the Jackal, 3:01 a.m., Peacock. "Emerging from the turmoil in Tallinn, the Jackal retreats into the shadows. Meanwhile, Bianca meticulously delves into the mysterious history of 'Duggan,' analyzing his experiences in Afghanistan to uncover potential new leads." Two-episode season finale next week.

Today, 7 a.m., NBC. Segments include a look at student loan repayments, this holiday's tech gifts, special seasonal recipes, and Dax ("Lonely Dirt Road") in concert. Later, recognizing and reducing holiday stress on the body, Margo Martindale (The Sticky), the "One Stop Holiday Shop," cooking with coffee, and more from Dax. After, scoop, Stephanie Hsu (Laid), more food, holiday glam, and holiday hacks.
