Jeopardy!
BOOKS & AUTHORS // SWAP A VOWEL // 19th CENTURY SPORTS // AMPHIBIANS & REPTILES // FOR A DOLLAR // NAME A WOMAN
DD1 - $1,000 - SWAP A VOWEL - A subatomic particle & a peculiar behavior (Jasmine doubled to $4,800.)
Scores at first break: Ashley $4,400, Jordan $800, Jasmine $4,800.
Scores entering DJ: Ashley $5,200, Jordan $3,000, Jasmine $7,200.
Double Jeopardy!
WORLD HISTORY // JURY DUTY // FROM THE AFI CATALOG // ART CLASS // CANADIANA // CROSSWORD CLUES "R"
DD2 - $1,200 - FROM THE AFI CATALOG - "The exteriors of the Desmond mansion were shot at a 25-room mansion on Wilshire Blvd"... the studio "added the swimming pool" (Ashley took the lead by adding $3,000 to her score of $8,000 vs. $9,200 for Jasmine.)
DD3 - $1,200 - ART CLASS - Cézanne & Gauguin were leaders of this movement that came onto the scene a little after Monet & Renoir (Ashley improved by $3,000 to $18,000 vs. $10,000 for Jasmine.)
Jasmine turned in an outstanding performance, but it was Ashley scoring on both DDs in DJ that made the difference going into FJ with Ashley at $18,800 vs. $15,600 for Jasmine and $10,200 for Jordan.
Final Jeopardy!
FICTIONAL CHARACTERS - Dressed in white in her first scene, this play character says her name means "white woods"
Everyone was correct on FJ. Ashley added $2,100 to win with $20,900 for a four-day total of $67,400.
Wagering strategy: For the second time during her run, Ashley didn't bet enough to cover a possible double-up by the second place player. It appears her strategy was to shut out third place if correct, and she bet a little bit extra, which allowed her to edge out Jasmine.
Triple Stumper of the day: All three players took a swing and a miss at the Atlantic Canadian island where TV shows air "8:00, 8:30", Newfoundland. Note that after previous controversy over how he pronounced it, Ken covered himself by saying Newfoundland two different ways.
Correct Qs: DD1 - What are quark and quirk? DD2 - What is "Sunset Boulevard"? DD3 - What is Post-Impressionism? FJ - Who is Blanche DuBois?
