Jeopardy! recap for Thur., Nov. 28

 Here are today's contestants:

- Laurel Day, a project manager originally from Austin, Texas;

- Debbie Mercer, a retried special education teacher from Oak Park, Illinois; and

- Kevin Laskowski, an Episcopal priest from Falls Church, Virginia. Kevin is a three-day champ with winnings of $52,999.

Jeopardy!

HOW CONVENTIONAL // LIFE SCIENCE // 3-WORD PHRASES // FUN WITH ZIP CODES // SPORTS-POURRI // TURKEY DAY

DD1 - $400 - HOW CONVENTIONAL - The 1899 Hague Convention explicitly forbade dropping bombs from these; nice idea, but technology soon passed it by (Kevin lost $1,000.)

Scores at first break: Kevin $200, Debbie $2,400, Laurel $0.

Scores entering DJ: Kevin $3,400, Debbie $1,400, Laurel $600.

Double Jeopardy!

GEOGRAPHY // ASIAN LITERATURE // DO YOU WANT TO BUILD A BUILDING? // A REAL SMOKE SHOW // A PROJECT // -OLOGY

DD2 - $1,200 - ASIAN LITERATURE - "Frog" by Mo Yan follows Gugu, a midwife during China's implementation of this policy (On the first clue of DJ, Laurel added $400.)

DD3 - $1,200 - DO YOU WANT TO BUILD A BUILDING? - In 1943 this art collector asked Frank Lloyd Wright to build a building for a museum unlike any other in the world (Debbie added $1,200 to her score of $3,800 vs. $6,600 for Laurel.)

Laurel broke what appeared to be a three-way tie into the last clue of DJ, then a judging reversal gave her a larger lead into FJ at $14,600 vs. $9,400 for both Kevin and Debbie.

Final Jeopardy!

U.S. BUSINESSES - In 2024 this company said only 4 of its 400+ locations will let Mr. Munch, Helen Henny, Jasper T. Jowls, and its namesake still perform

Everyone was correct on FJ. Laurel added $4,201 to win with $18,801.

Final scores: Kevin $18,799, Debbie $14,602, Laurel $18,801.

Triple Stumper of the day: For a top-row clue, no one knew the mysterious ABC show that featured a Smoke Monster is "Lost".

Wagering strategy: Laurel opened DJ by running a literature category, which makes it all the more curious that after selecting DD2 on the first clue of the round, she chose to bet just $400.

Correct Qs: DD1 - What are hot air balloons? DD2 - What is the one child policy? DD3 - Who was Guggenheim? FJ - What is Chuck E. Cheese?
