 Here are today's contestants:

- Chuck Rea, a director of software engineering originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania;

- Priscilla Gruenewald, a retired writer & editor from Nipomo, California; and

- Greg Jolin, a system specialist & accountant from Raymond, New Hampshire. Greg is a three-day champ with winnings of $75,002.

Jeopardy!

A NIGHT AT THE THEATER // HYPHENATED WORDS // CANONIZED SHOTS // PLAYING GAMES // SCIENCE // THE LAWYERS' NOTES ON MY NEW MEMOIR

DD1 - $800 - SCIENCE- The 2 chemical elements bearing the names of U.S. states are tennessine & this one (Greg added $3,000 to his leading score of $5,600.)

Scores at first break: Greg $4,000, Priscilla $800, Chuck $1,400.

Scores entering DJ: Greg $9,800, Priscilla $800, Chuck $2,800.

Double Jeopardy!

MARY, QUEEN OF SCOTS // A TAXING CATEGORY // SHORT MOVIE TITLES // ESSAYS // ANIMALS ON THE MAP // "OON" DOGGLE

DD2 - $800 - ANIMALS ON THE MAP - This city in Erie County is home to the Nickel City Opera (Greg added $10,000 to improve to $26,600.)

DD3 - $1,600 - A TAXING CATEGORY - Most of the proceeds from the Federal Insurance Contributions Act (or FICA) tax go to this program (Chuck, playing for second place, added $1,000 to his total of $4,800.)

Greg had a big lead when he made a strong wager on DD2 and was correct, cruising into FJ at $30,200 vs. $7,400 for Chuck and $6,000 for Priscilla.

Final Jeopardy!

PHRASE ORIGINS - In 1935 an article popularized this term for the part of the U.S. where residents were “depending on rain”

Everyone was correct on FJ. Greg added $5,200 to win with $35,400 for a four-day total of $110,402.

Final scores: Greg $35,400, Priscilla $8,000, Chuck $10,000.

Clue selection strategy: The DD in the first round lasted until the 25th selection, despite that SCIENCE for $800 would surely be considered one of the most likely locations for it.

Judging the writers: The DD in the category about taxes, located in the fourth row, was vastly easier than at least three other clues in the category.

Correct Qs: DD1 - What is Californium? DD2 - What is Buffalo? DD3 - What is Social Security? FJ - What is Dust Bowl?
