Well, it's that time of year again. The last gasp of summer. Soon, network programming will return. Before that happens, it's time for my annual swallowing of pride by making a Lifetime Movie Network premiere the Top Pick. Tonight's honoree is The Past Comes Knocking.
While I reflect on how pasts really should call in advance before visiting, let's see what else TV has to offer us for Thursday, Sept. 5. All times are EST.
STREAMING
Coming From America, 3:01 a.m., Max. Series premiere. "Four African American families pack up all their belongings, risking everything to move to the new land of opportunity: Africa. Enticed by cheap housing and picturesque landscapes, these families travel 5,000 miles to find love, jobs and a better life. First, they'll have to survive the inevitable culture shock - but if they can endure the first 60 days, their lives could be changed forever." Streaming weekly through Thursday, Oct. 10.

The Perfect Couple, 3:01 a.m., Netflix. Series premiere. "Amelia (Eve Hewson) is about to marry into one of the wealthiest families on Nantucket, until a shocking death derails the wedding — and turns everyone into a suspect." The cast includes Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Isabelle Adjani, and Dakota Fanning. Okay, so real talk. I had originally planned this to be the Top Pick, but when I created my draft on Tuesday night, this was no longer listed at The Futon Critic. Luckily, I decided to look again tonight. Anyway, six episodes available.
Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, 3:01 a.m., Peacock. Series premiere. "Follows the infamous story of how an armed robbery on the night of Muhammad Ali's historic 1970 comeback fight changed not only one man's life but ultimately transformed Atlanta into the 'Black Mecca.' When a hustler named Chicken Man (Kevin Hart) hosts an afterparty to celebrate the fight with a guest list of the country's wealthiest, the night ends with the most brazen criminal underworld heist in Atlanta's history. Suspected of masterminding the crime, Chicken Man is hellbent on clearing his name but must convince his old adversary, J.D. Hudson (Don Cheadle), one of the first Black detectives in the city's desegregated police force, who is tasked with bringing those responsible to justice." Costarring Samuel L. Jackson, Taraji P. Henson, and Terrence Howard. Three episodes available, followed by one per week through Oct. 10.
Bel-Air, 3:01 a.m., Peacock. Third season finale. "Family Matters" and "Save the Best for Last." "Will, Carlton and Lisa try to heal after witnessing a friend's overdose. Hilary prepares for her wedding. Geoffrey reveals the truth to Frederick." Later, "The Bankses and family support Hilary during her wedding day in Martha's Vineyard. Will and Carlton work with Drew on 'Blackccess.'"

Fifteen-Love, 3:01 a.m., Sundance Now. "Justine's actions damage her reputation further, as Longwood prepares for the biggest Grand Slam event of the year. Justine looks to repair her friendship with Renee, and help her friend reach new heights at the tournament."
