Shohei Ohtani picked the worst day to have his or maybe anyone's best game ever. While the whole country was transfixed by the spectacle of a seemingly endless parade of Republican scandals, Ohtani simply rewrote what a designated hitter could be. And he did it while still recovering from Tommy John surgery. The Dodgers are headed to the playoffs but Ohtani is unlikely to step back onto the mound at risk of further injury despite LA's pitching woes. If he continues to hit I doubt they'll mind.
