Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Sept. 11

 Here are today's contestants:

- Kristen Robinson, a history instructor from St. Joseph, Michigan;

- Ben Gagne-Maynard, an education consultant from Madison, Wisconsin; and

- Will Weiss, a technical program manager from Islip, New York. Will is a one-day champ with winnings of $14,000.

Jeopardy!

GEOGRAPHY// HOLY SOMETHING! // BOOKS FOR KIDS // NAMES IN THE DICTIONARY // THE ENVIRONMENT // TV RERUNS

DD1 - $800 - GEOGRAPHY - In its own language, the official name of this landlocked country of Transcaucasia is Hayastani Hanrapetut'yun (Ben dropped $800.)

Scores at first break: Will $2,200, Ben $600, Kristen $400.

Scores entering DJ: Will $4,800, Ben $2,000, Kristen $2,000.

Double Jeopardy!

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION LOSERS // FILMANTHROPY // ENDS IN "EAU" // AMAZING ANIMALS // THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS // A FEW COLORFUL WORDS

DD2 - $1,600 - PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION LOSERS - Twice to one William & once to another William, this William ran & lost 3 times (Ben lost $3,000 from his score of $3,600 vs. $7,200 for Will.)

DD3 - $800 - FILMANTHROPY - In 2018 Disney pledged $1 million of this Marvel film's proceeds to STEM programs in underserved areas (Will lost just $800 from his leading total of $10,000 vs. $3,600 for Kristen.)

For the second straight game, all three DDs were missed, and once again Will had a relatively modest score that was good enough for a runaway at $13,600 vs. $5,000 for Ben and $4,400 for Kristen.

Final Jeopardy!

WORLD BORDERS - After Canada & the U.S., these 2 countries share the longest land border at more than 4,700 miles

Everyone was incorrect on FJ. Will dropped $0 to win with $13,600 for a two-day total of $27,600.

Final scores: Will $13,600, Ben $1,199, Kristen $0.

Triple Stumper of the day: Somehow, no one got this top-row clue about Moses in HOLY SOMETHING!: "In Exodus 4 he says, 'But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice'; holy...!"

Clue selection strategy: After DD2 was found with the first selection in PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION LOSERS, the players chose to complete the category in its entirety rather than shop elsewhere for DD3.

Correct Qs: DD1 - What is Armenia? DD2 - Who was William Jennings Bryan? DD3 - What is "Black Panther"? FJ - What are Russia & Kazakhstan?
