What's On Tonight (Friday): He Never Spent Much Time in School...

The Fall Guy

Not much that flicks my wick this week, so I'm giving Top Pick to the Peacock streaming premiere of The Fall Guy.  Remember back in May when The Fall Guy underperforming and Furiosa outright bombing had movie fans panicking?  Fun times.  Now that the summer is behind us, and there have been several hit films proving that theater going is not dead, maybe people will stop freaking out whenever a film isn't an instant smash (Narrator: People did not stop freaking out).

TOP PICK

🎥 The Fall Guy and The Fall Guy: The Extended Cut (Peacock, 3:01 AM) STREAMING PREMIERE. 'Fresh off an almost career-ending accident, stuntman Colt Seavers has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job.'

Elsewhere...

*Peacock also has the streaming premiere of a charming looking film called Touch.  A widower in Iceland is given a bad prognosis and decides to find out what happened to the first woman he loved.  It looks like something that would make me cry several times.   Glad I don't have Peacock.

*Not to be outdone by Peacock in the charming film department, AMC+ has the streaming premiere of Ghostlight, which is also the best reviewed film this week with a 100% Fresh rating.  It's about an emotionally distant father and his mentally ill daughter who struggle to connect.  They eventually are brought together through the magic of community theater.  This is another one designed to make me cry.

*Max has the streaming premiere of The Watchers today.  This is your heads up that this film does not star Corey Haim or feature a super intelligent dog being chased by a mutated monster.  Rather it's about people trapped in a house where they are watched by mysterious creatures that won't let them leave.  Judging by its ticket sales, the movie really should have brought in a super intelligent dog.  That shit is box office gold.

*Netflix has the new haunted house film, The Deliverance.  This is your heads up that Ned Beatty does not get raped by hillbillies in this one.  Rather it's about a woman who moves with her kids into a new house and strange shit starts happening.  No hillbillies to be seen, unless they're the ones behind the strange shit, and I just don't think that's most hillbillies' M.O.
