Today's theme is dear to me. We're back at book banning. They always want to ban the books that would be most useful to real kids. Not the ideal kids that never have problems and are always straight and white and wear purity rings. Real kids need to find context for their problems. Their parents are often the problem so restricting books without parental approval is a ban. Kids aren't always going to talk to teachers or other adults. Sometimes a book hidden inside a backpack can provide some relief. Being sorry after a kid kills themself is far too late. I'm not surprised this is happening in Cobb County, GA. It's right next to Atlanta and home to the Center for Disease Control. It's also Newt Gingrich's stomping grounds. They don't care about the kids at all. It's never about the kids. [Yahoo]
