What's On Tonight (Friday): Like a Plan for Replacing Biden, Today's Pick is Imaginary...

The Imaginary

I considered making Joe Biden's interview with George Stephanopoulos today's Top Pick.  It's a big deal and a lot of people will probably be watching.  Hopefully Biden gives a good interview and puts to rest any chitter chatter about replacing him (it won't - they'll still be talking about replacing him after he's sworn in again), but here's the thing: I'm not going to be watching.  Why?  He already has my vote.  Why?  Because I'm not a fucking idiot and one sub-par debate performance doesn't change anything.

So, instead I'm going with Netflix's The Imaginary.  I don't know much about the people behind it but the trailer is charming, the animation looks great and it's at 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.  Maybe check it out when you're done having Biden reassure you that he isn't going anywhere.

TOP PICK

🎥 The Imaginary (Netflix, 3:01 AM) 'Rudger is a boy no one can see, imagined by Amanda to share her thrilling make-believe adventures. But when Rudger, suddenly alone, arrives at The Town of Imaginaries, where forgotten Imaginaries live and find work, he faces a mysterious threat.'

Elsewhere...

*Not much premiering today.  I'm guessing most of the streamers chose to release their stuff on Wed or Thurs this week to take advantage of the holiday.  Probably the highest profile debut is Back to Black, which is streaming on Peacock.  The lowest profile one would be King of Zanzibar on Max, which doesn't even have a trailer.  Goyo looks like a good time, Desperate Lies looks like the opposite.

*I'm heading to Ireland with my wife and kids on Saturday.  I'll be there for two weeks.  First real vacation since 2019.  I'll still be posting the Friday WOT.  Where we'll be is rural, but the mobile signal is strong.  SCIENCE!
