Jeopardy! recap for Fri., Jul. 19

 Here are today's contestants:

- Neilesh Vinjamuri, a software engineer from Lionville, Pennsylvania;

- Dave Gutierrez, a logistics director from Fox River Grove, Illinois; and

- Jay Fisher, a government relations manager from Lisle, Illinois. Jay is a three-day champ with winnings of $28,200.

Jeopardy!

BRITISH HISTORY // THE OLYMPICS // RODENTS // IT'S SOME KIND OF LAW // RATED "PG" // 40

DD1 - $800 - BRITISH HISTORY - The name of this venue built in 1599 fit its circular shape, a "wooden O", some would say (Neilesh dropped $1,000.)

Scores at first break: Jay $2,200, Dave $1,200, Neilesh $200.

Scores entering DJ: Jay $2,600, Dave $3,400, Neilesh -$800.

Double Jeopardy!

REAL BOOK TITLE LOCALES // FANNY PACK // CLASSICAL MUSIC // OLD HOLLYWOOD POWER COUPLES // A LITLE WORD MATH // FORT-Y

DD2 - $1,200 - CLASSICAL MUSIC - This suite by Handel for strings & various wind instruments was performed for a royal boat trip on the Thames (Neilesh, at $0, added $1,000.)

DD3 - $1,600 - FORT-Y - Fort Moultrie held off the Royal Navy in 1776; a 2nd fort constructed at this same harbor years later would gain fame in 1861 (Jay lost $2,000 from his leading score of $5,000.)

Neilesh struggled for a long stretch, but after Jay missed DD3, he suddenly took control and amazingly wound up with a runaway into FJ at $13,000 vs. $5,400 for Dave and $5,000 for Jay.

Final Jeopardy!

19TH CENTURY WOMEN - The National Park Service says there are more statues of her, often with her infant son, than any other American woman

Only Jay was correct on FJ. Neilesh dropped $1,000 to win with $12,000.

Final scores: Jay $5,401, Dave $400, Neilesh $12,000.

Triple Stumper of the day:  No one knew the Swede who directed the drama "Fanny & Alexander" was Ingmar Bergman.

Overvalued clue dept.: In round one, a clue about the book of the Bible that included "the Israelites wandered for 40 years in the desert after leaving Egypt" being Exodus was in the bottom row. If I'm saying a Bible clue is easy, it must really be easy.

Correct Qs: DD1 - What is the Globe Theater? DD2 - What is "Water Music"? DD3 - What is Charleston? FJ - Who was Sacagawea?
