Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Jun. 5

 Here are today's contestants:

- Allee Mead, a writer from Grand Forks, North Dakota;

- Kyle Sorlie Titlow, a geographer from Washington, D.C.; and

- Adriana Harmeyer, an archivist from West Lafayette, Indiana. Adriana is a five-day champ with winnings of $116,200.

Jeopardy!

FEELING THE BUZZ // SIGNS OF THE ZODIAC // "GATE"KEEPING // NORTH AMERICAN GEOGRAPHY // POP MUSIC // THE REAL RED TAILS

DD1 - $1,200 - SIGNS OF THE ZODIAC - The symbol of this sign is sometimes identified as Ishtar or Persephone (Allee doubled to $2,400.)

Scores at first break: Adriana $3,600, Kyle $1,000, Allee $400.

Scores entering DJ: Adriana $5,800, Kyle $1,600, Allee $5,400.

Double Jeopardy!

U.S. REP. & PREZ // PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION // ALLITERATIVE TELEVISION SHOWS // SCIENCE QUIZ // 21st CENTURY BOOKS // CITY SLANG

DD2 - $1,200 - U.S. REP. & PREZ - Rep. Franklin Pierce was such a devoted supporter of Andrew Jackson, he got this nickname alluding to his age (29) (Adriana added $2,000 to her score of $17,800 vs. $9,400 for Allee.)

DD3 - $1,600 - SCIENCE QUIZ  - D2, or heavy water, combines oxygen with this isotope that is twice as heavy as hydrogen (Adriana dropped $2,000 from her total of $21,800 vs. $9,400 for Allee.)

It took a long time to find the DDs in DJ and Adriana picked them both, broke even on them and had just enough for another runaway into FJ at $19,400 vs. $9,400 for Allee and $2,400 for Kyle.

Final Jeopardy!

BRITISH PLACES - This city owes much of its early history to a temple dedicated to Sulis Minerva and a 'sacred spring' found there

Everyone was correct on FJ. Adriana added $500 to win with $19,900 for a six-day total of $136,100.

Final scores: Adriana $19,900, Kyle $4,799, Allee $9,400.

City struggles: No one knew the city associated with the Post-Intelligencer newspaper is Seattle, or that the slang term  "Ya heard me?" comes from New Orleans.

Strategy corner: After DD2 was found with just one other category on the board, Adriana and Kyle finished the category where DD2 had already been selected instead of going after DD3. Also, Allee declined to take a guess on the last clue worth $400 when adding that amount to her score would have kept the game alive.

Correct Qs: DD1 - What is Virgo? DD2 - What is Young Hickory? DD3 - What is deuterium? FJ -What is Bath?
