Jeopardy! recap for Thur., Jun. 27

 Here are today's contestants:

- Jayaker Kolli, a medical student from Austin, Texas;

- Luke Hemphill, a family business owner from Poulsbo, Washington; and

- Drew Basile, a graduate student from Birmingham, Michigan. Drew is a six-day champ with winnings of $111,601.

Jeopardy!

INSPIRED BY SHAKESPEARE // SCIENCE // WHOSE WHAT? // IT STARTS WITH "Y" // YOU SAY YOU WANT AN INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION // WE ALL WANT TO CHANGE THE WORLD

DD1 - $800 - INSPIRED BY SHAKESPEARE - The 2023 romcom "Anyone But You", with squabbling would-be lovers named Bea & Ben, was inspired by this comedy (Drew dropped $1,000.)

Scores at first break: Drew $2,600, Luke $1,800, Jayaker $4,600.

Scores entering DJ: Drew $4,600, Luke $2,600, Jayaker $5,800.

Double Jeopardy!

HISTORIANS // WORLD CITIES // GETTING ARTY // THE U.S. SENATE // HALLS OF FAME // CROSSWORD CLUES: ANTONYMS

DD2 - $1,600 - HISTORIANS - Dan Jones writes histories like one on this title dynasty that has the Lionheart, the Hundred Years' War & the Black Death (Jayaker lost $2,000 from his total of $7,000.)

DD3 - $2,000 - GETTING ARTY - The first part of this term for a work in which a design projects from a background surface is French for "low" (Drew improved by $4,000 to $15,800 vs. $6,200 for Jayaker.)

Jayaker looked like a contender after round one, but after he missed DD2 early in DJ, Drew took command, scored on DD3 and went on to a comfortable runaway at $19,000 vs. $7,800 for both Jayaker and Luke.

Final Jeopardy!

BUSINESSMEN - After joining the army at 16, in 1906, for a brief stint, he received a much higher honorary rank from the Gov. of his state 29 years later

Only Jayaker was correct on FJ, so it's quite possible his miss on DD2 cost him the game. Drew dropped just $1,000 to win with $18,000 for a seven-day total of $129,601.

Final scores: Drew $18,000, Luke $800, Jayaker $7,800.

Triple Stumper of the Day: No one knew the place from the famous MLK speech in which he said "I've seen (this); I may not get there with you..." is the promised land.

Ken's Korner: After Drew announced his $4,000 bet from the lead on DD3, Ken called it a "big wager". While an argument could be made for a smaller wager from Drew's position there, $4,000 is hardly "big". Now $10,000? That would have been a "big wager".

Correct Qs: DD1 - What is "Much Ado About Nothing"? DD2 - What is Plantagenet? DD3 - What is bas-relief? FJ - Who was Col. Sanders?
